When the cabin is flying at altitude, it's pressurized and you can't open the door. Which they say on the video you linked to saying they lied to us.

But this plane was in the process of landing, and it was much lower, so the cabin was not pressurized and the door COULD (obviously) be opened.

It's both the make/model of the plane (sliding door) and the pressure from outside as they were just about 2 minutes from landing.

If you tried to make a door that could never be opened when the plane was in the air, no matter what altitude, you'd wind up with a system that could fail and trap passengers inside. The best compromise we have right now is a door that can still be opened when the plane is a few hundred feet in the air. Scary, sure, but less scary than being trapped in a burning plane because sensors think they're still in the air.

How insane do you have to be to make that decision? Luckily it didn't cause huge trouble to the passengers!
