What is everybody planning to do with an LA/LS degree?
#1
I am curious.....For all those that are getting Liberal Arts or Liberal Studies degrees from the various Big 3, what made you decide to get a general degree instead of a specialized one?

I plan on using my degree (BS in LS from EC) to get into a Grad school. Since i'm 19 with intrestests in everything, I decided to put off making a decision and get a generalized degree. When i do decide what i want to get a Master's in, I will be able to focus on taking the prerequiste courses/GRE and do the best i can. Its just not the same if somewhere in the back of my mind i'm thinking "do i really want to do this?"

The speed of obtaining it as my primary reason. Also, I have a lot of work experience, but the lack of a degree was holding me back. I simply needed a Bachelors Degree and my work experience could take care of the lack of a major. May not be right for a new grad without any work experience, or if an experienced person was trying to shift into a brand new direction, but for me it worked. I am finally able to move in the direction I have always wanted to. YEAH!!!!Smile

Thanks for the info!

My main goal is an MBA and I really just wanted to get my undergrad as fast as possible. I was going for a BSBA in Marketing but if I switch to Liberal Studies I will get done much faster. I would only have 12 tests or classes left instead of 15, and much easier ones at that. I think I am going to switch to the liberal studies and just get it done. Big Grin

I hope to finish my AA in general Studies from TESC next month.

I will probably then try to get my BA in Liberal studies in about a year. I took my 1st college course in 1972.

I have over 30 years experience in a laboratory and 18 chemistry credits from B & M colleges with a 3.5 GPA. But most large companies will not even look at my resume because I don't have a degree. Once I can put BA on the application they will not care what it is in, they will look at my experience.

For the most part though I just want to show my kids, if I can do it at my age they should be able to do it too.

I have lots of credits(106 actually) and the BSLS being the most flexible degree, I'm hoping most if not all of them will transfer into the degree.
