Which master's based on these two choices (Poll)?
#11
At some point in your career, you may get asked for a Master's in Human Resources - and then you'll have this in your back pocket.

You will NEVER be asked for a MA in Professional Development.

The MAPD may hurt your chances somewhere along the way, while the MSHR will not.

Haha, I think your middle sentence is perfect.

To me, this is a no-brainer. There is no downside to the HR degree, only upside. Most likely, it won’t matter—what will matter is that you have the masters. If you need to change employers or go for a promotion in a field like HR, corporate training, or similar job, having the HR degree might help get you past the initial filtering. If the employer looks at your courses, interviews you, etc, the two degrees would likely be interchangeable. It’s just a matter of getting to the in-depth review, interview.

I have never had an employer look at my courses.  They check to see if you have the degree (maybe) and then that's it.  I can't even imagine why an employer would do this.  If you have years of experience and a master's degree, you are good to go.

A lot of government jobs have requirements for specific courses that need to be completed and/or specific number of hours that need to be completed in the relevant discipline to qualify. I have had 2 of these jobs. And I know they have looked at my transcript, because I have been asked very specific questions about it during the hiring process that could only come from carefully reviewing my transcript.

I started off in the MS Agile Project Management and changed to the MBA in Strategic Leadership during my first term. The MBA opens more doors. I think you'll find the same with the MSHRB vs the MAPD. I'm also in my final session this fall. But I will be sticking around to complete the MAPD which will help me have enough grad credits to get some courses waived for my doctorate.

May is the keyword. These 2 degrees have overlap. There aren't 24 credits different between them. You still have to complete 24 credits at AU for your second bachelor's degree so you'll end up with some electives that you work with your academic advisor on.
