Written Requirement help?

I'm looking for some clarification on Written/English Requirements at Excelsior for the General Business Degree. Here's what I have:

• Excelsior requires a 3 credit Written English Requirement.
  
• The CLEP English Composition is NOT accepted.
  
• The Excelsior Business Catalog Guide states: A maximum of 6 credits in English Composition/Freshman English can be applied to your degree.
  

All Writing Exams available:
ECE ENGLISH COMPOSITION - 6 credits
ECE COLLEGE WRITING - 3 credits
CLEP FRESHMAN COLLEGE COMPOSITION - 6 credits
CLEP ENGLISH COMPOSITION - 6 credits
DSST TECHNICAL WRITING - 3 credits


Written Requirement:
The Catalog only mentions the CLEP English Composition, what about the CLEP Freshman College Composition. I'm assuming it ALSO does not count? And what about the DSST Technical Writing exam? Are there are only 2 exams that meet the written requirement?

ECE English Composition - 6 credits
3 credits will meet the Written Requirements and 3 credits can be applied to Humanities

or

ECE College Writing - 3 credits


Would a maximum of 6 credits in English Composition/Freshman English include the ECE College Writing? Or can I take ECE College Writing (3 credits) to meet the written requirement AND then take the CLEP Freshman College Composition (6 credits), and the DSST Technical Writing (3 credits) exam as Humanity electives and be able to apply 12 credits to ARTS & SCIENCES?

Someone else can answer this with more authority, but I believe that now there is only one exam that qualifies: ECE English Composition. The ECE College Writing exam was retired last fall, I think. Technical Writing does not qualify; it's not the same kind of thing.

I did see somewhere that it said College Writing was being retired last year, however the exam is still available as of today so it should still count, right?

You're right, if it is still being offered, then I would think it still applies. But it's always best to ask an advisor before investing in the test, of course.

I completed my WER via LSU - LSU Independent and Distance Learning (a cheaper alternative).

I did mine via Penn Foster English Composition ($175 all in )

I had already completed Clep with essay, Clep without essay and Technical Writing when I enrolled in ECE...none satisfied the WER. I took the Thomas Edison State College English Composition and scored a 96. It only required four simple responses to various questions and a short essay with no tricks. Easy peasy...

"Don't get hung up on the little stuff", "just a bum in the road"...advice given to me encouraging me to just knock out another simple exam and to be done...and I am!

OK, so only ECE College Writing (if still available) and ECE English Composition will fulfill the Written Requirement.

So the question is, can I take ECE College Writing for the Written Requirement, THEN still be able to take CLEP Freshman English Composition (6 credits) and DSST Technical Writing (3 credits) as electives in ARTS & SCIENCES, or will something cancel one or the other out?

From what I've gathered these 3 exams are some of the easiest so I'm hoping to get 12 credits in ARTS & SCIENCES with these three exams. hilarious

No, you can still take a course like the ones mentioned from either LSU or PFC.

My work pays for my education expenses so the cost doesn't really matter.
