another ALEKS and SL question, SORRY! :)

Hi all! Smile
Just wondering if anyone could tell me how many questions are on the initial assessment when you first begin your ALEKS course? I'm wondering how many I have to answer correct in order to make 70%.

Also, has anyone tried to have ACE transcribe courses from Straighterline yet? SL is not showing up on the ACE page where you request courses to be added to your transcript. thanks everyone!!

I think it depends on how many you get right. The more you get right the longer your assessment will be since it will test you over harder and harder things.

I have sent an inquiry to ACE about the Straighterline question. SL submitted my completion of Macro over the break, but it still has not appeared at ACE even though it's been a week since they reopened.

Will post again when they reply. Incidentally, my ALEKs courses (from June) had not made it from the My Courses to the My Transcript tab, either.

After the college math ones I remember them being only 25 questions or less. So, if they are 25 questions thats 4 points each. You need a 70% so about 7 only would be allowed wrong if it works like that.

When you contact ACE see if a second account was created in error.
When Straighterline sent my info over, ACE ended up creating a new account for me, when I contacted them (ACE), they merged the Straighterline account into my original account for me.

The Aleks issue confuses me, they ( aleks) are usually really good about approving or disapproving them within 3-5 days.
Are you saying Aleks has not approved your course request since June ?

:-) Two courses were sent by ALEKS; they both show approved in the My Courses tab, but ACE's site says that they should be moved to the My Transcript tab within 72 hours and if not, send an e-mail.

I was so excited to have the two ALEKS courses done (waited for the first to show approved before moving to the second) that I didn't see the part about moving from one tab to the other until I started watching for the Straighterline course to show up. Read the (not so) fine print, right? Rolleyes

ALEKS always approved my courses the same day, but ACE took almost three weeks, it processed just 2 days ago.

As for the initial assessment I agree that it may get longer depending on how well you do. On my beginning algebra I got a 30-something % and had 25 questions, on intermediate I had 30 questions and got 49%. My score also indicates that questions are weighted in some way (ie. not x/30). my personal unsubstantiated theory is that certain problems will make the system believe that you know several different kinds of problems resulting in many of the problems being weighted. I think that when I got my "50%" that I got more than half of them right, at the time I believed if I got a 70% I would pass, I thought I had all but three problems correct. There is no way to tell for certain, but nobody seems to know exactly what is required to test out. .

Peace123, you were spot on. I called today, there were two transcripts (the other one had all three on the transcript), and Jessica is merging them. The update should be available for viewing and ordering tomorrow.

Thanks, and best wishes, everybody!
