I'm thinking of getting a BA in sociology , or military science or teaching.but I was wndering I finish my BA in history at the end of the year. Does a person start fresh with no credits if starting a new degree or do u just do the 30 sum credits for the major your wanting? And. Seeing a lot of people on here with mutiple degrees its the best place to ask

IIRC, you are trying to get commissioned as an officer. If so, you won't have time for another bachelor's degree and you will later need a master's degree to get promoted, so your focus should not be on a second bachelor's degree-it should be on your career, and a second bachelor's degree does nothing for it.

Amu offers miltary science as a ba and ma degrees and I was considarding going that route. I know how demanding active duty already is but its not going to stop me from getting free TA and work toward more degrees and I can't do the military forever. And was plaing on being a history teacher. or something around that. I have only about 13 years left before I can retire from the military . That's not long

Is a BS in Military Science even required for entry to the MS? Is it possible these days to get TA for undergrad courses when you already have a bachelor's?

At any rate, as I said, your energies are best concentrated on grad study once you have a bachelor's. Don't go nuts with the credentialism, though.

You might not be employed in the military forever so a civilian compatible bachelors and masters might be a better option.

I worked with a bunch of retired military officers who were collecting their retirement checks while working as civilian contractors for the military in the computer software industry. Some of them were reservists too so they received 3 paychecks.

I would research government contractor positions that require military experience. Find out which jobs interest you and design a degree plan that gets you to that point. You might just end up making a ton of money this way and serving your country as a civilian later in life.

You can have any bachelors going into the masters program. The military masters might be helpful when working for the government or defense contractors as an intelligence analyst; political science and international relations will be more helpful since they allow you to study the cultures of countries and regions of interest. If being an intelligence analyst or working for the Department of State as a foreign service officer interests you, political science and international relations are some of the most sought after degrees. National Security and Intelligence Studies are also listed as desirable. Having military experience, veteran's preference, knowledge of a critical need language, and a security clearance will give you the upper-hand. Degrees in computer-related studies, economics, and business are also needed; but that will take you in a different direction than the social sciences you seem to be interested in.
