a little WGU MBA review....
#61
Alright, back in the saddle...

Over the last 12-15 hours I have completed the course Social Responsibility, it's been submitted to taskstream so they can find a fault or two and send it back.

This one was actually fun, you pick a business and develop a social responsibility plan for it using the 3 P's People ~ Planet ~ Profit. You also detail how some regulatory requirements directly affect the business and how best to meet them. I chose my favorite redneck Bar BQ restaurant, the one with the peeling paint, sweet/surly waitresses, and tables right next to the smoke pit....plenty of room for "improvement" (though if it were mine I wouldn't change a thing) Smile

This course is widely considered an "easy" one, my counselor recommended I tackle it after being away from it for the last several weeks...he was right. I may tackle the slightly more difficult Risk Management next before delving into the fearsome Finance Course (its an intricate doozy all about accounting...uggh)

Feels good to have actually accomplished something school related again! Smile

BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

The mentors are great at providing recommendations for which courses to try after a break. They get you to do the easier stuff first to build up momentum and confidence. Using my mentor's guidance, I completed around 40 CU's in my first term at WGU.

YES!!! And I've totally bonded with mine too! We schedule our weekly calls for my commute home, its not unusual to start chatting with the guy as I leave the office and still be chatting as I arrive home....its an hour long commute! I haven't spent this much time on the phone since the 8th grade.

WOW...less than 24 hours and I received notification that I passed Social Responsibility...the quickest response ever! Here is what they said:

"Score: Meets Requirement
Comment: A plausible social responsibility strategy for Zwingle's is present in the submission. Good ideas and recommendations are provided. Nice work!"

That's it, plus they break down the parts of your submission and give you a score of 1-3 or 1-5 depending on complexity of the submission.

I'm close to halfway done with my submission on Risk this one should be easy considering my current vocation. I have family stuff to do all day though...so I doubt it will be in before Tues/Wed.....

OK, Risk is submitted. Be cool if Ibanged out two couses over a long weekend. Smile

I have to say however that this might not be as easy for those who lack a business background or a younger person without plenty of experience. My wife and daughter both looked at these last two classes and expressed dismay at the content, they don't either one feel like they could just sit down and start writing...that's pretty much my standard MO. (After watching each courses gtting started video and taking notes of course.
