An Aleks Question
#1
I finished a College Algebra during the free trial for Aleks, but for some reason when i went to submit and process through ACE, i received an email form Aleks indicating that you can not get credit during a free trial, and that i was going to need to take an assessment all over under a paid account. Has any experienced this issue?

Actually I just finished my free trial and when finished, signed up for pre-algebra. After paying I don't know where to begin and cannot even access the pie chart! Aleks customer service doesn't open until 4 pm Sunday. Sad

When you sign up for ALEKS, you should get logins for 2 separate accounts: the "Master" account and the "Student" account. The student account is the one where you go in and do the work. The Master account is where you set up the student info, including what course you want the student to work through. The pie chart is in the student account.

Can we still claim ACE credit on a trial Aleks account? Or has this been changed?

I remember awhile ago a few people stating they transferred courses to ACE while under the free trial period. I was actually quite shocked to hear this and am not surprised they will no longer issue approvals without payment. You may only need make the payment to activate the account and then resubmit for course transfer. Even if they still say no, it shouldn't be difficult to go back in and take it again. I will advise if they do make you retake the assessment call and ask for them to reset the account. The first assessment presented is always the easiest, think of it as the software setting a baseline.

Since the monthly fee is only $20 as soon as you zip through College Algebra and the course is transferred, login to the master account and switch to Intermediate Algebra. It will be a super easy additional three credits for only $20. You'll even have time to tack on precalculus or trigonometry.

Good luck!

When my ALEKS trial period expired and I created a paid account, I remember it gave me the option of signing in with my Free Trial username/password or creating new ones. It's likely if one just pays the $20 while signed in under their Free Trial username the scores and data doesn't reset. I chose not to because I wanted a fresh assessment, I didn't pass the course during the trial. I can definitely understand how frustrating losing a 70% score would be, one definitely earns those scores. Hopefully you don't have to take it over. Good luck.
