Many of us passed without preparing for it. If you can read a passage of literature and get the main points from it, the test should be easy.
Prior to taking that exam, I saw others stating that its a hit or miss exam, you either know it or you don't. I can agree, if you enjoy literature, poetry etc then you should do fine as long as you brush up on literary devices. You should definitely check the clep official website and look at their sample questions as well.
I usually check Free Clep Prep.com and the official clep website (college board).

Some of the collegeboard sample sheets even have recommended college text books to study from.
