Have you considered the government TEACH grant?

If you're willing to work a few years in a low income area, the government will give you up to $4000 per year to complete this kind of study. Essentially, you need to teach in a low income area for at least 4 years afterward. Personally, I think it's a great program to empower these kids. Since I'm not an American citizen, however, I'm not eligible.
