Just got an A on the Uexcel College Writing
#1
I know I'm a fairly good writer because I'm old and I've been doing it a long time. However, I have put off this test for 2 years because I feared it! Also, I don't like having to write about a topic that is not interesting.

Monday morning I realized I was schedule to take the test that night, and it was too late to cancel without losing the exam fee. So I went and did it - best decision I've ever made!

Here's what I learned:

PearsonVue is really high security - they even required a palm reading everytime I moved across the room to make sure it was still me (it reads the veins in your palm or something. They will only give you one writing white board at a time - not multiple ones - so it's best to write small if you are outlining.

I got two questions. The first was the proposal (for more info check the test guide) - and it looked fairly easy. The second was the argument and analysis of two editorials with different positions on a subject (again check the test guide).

I spent the first 3 minutes of my 120 minutes meditating and praying Smile

I spent about 80 minutes on the argument and analysis piece. And about 30 on the proposal. I quit with about 7 minutes on the clock. I was brain-fried and my wrist hurt.

It doesn't tell you if you passed on your computer. It spits out papers at the front of the office. So, it was a long 5 minutes of getting my stuff turned in, palm read, ID shown, etc. before I was given my paper with the grade.

Know the basics of MLA citing (you don't have to do any citing except within your own paper). Also, there's no spell-check, so use words you know how to spell Smile

I am so close to my BS I can taste it!
