Just find a CC that accepts clep and ace. Also Houston CC is a sophia partner so that could be a cheaper option than peirpont as well and they might accept more sophia. Just do one class there online. Another cheap option would be be enrolled an associates program and taking a tecep it tesu. No need to even finish the associates so the cost would just be the application fee and the cost of a tecep.

And if you really want an associates degree most colleges only need 12-15 credits in residence but idk if an associates degree would help or be necessary in your case. But doing a single semester at CC wouldn't be a terrible idea especially depending on when you deployment date is. My brother joined right after high school but his deployment date wasn't until mid November. Another friend also joined right out of hs and he didn't leave until December and did a semester at CC in that time. It all depends on schooling for your job and numbers.

When my brother joined the navy he chose a job that put you in a higher rank to start and they he gained another rank after bootcamp. He told that his rank was the highest ranking anyone could get after bootcamp. But idk maybe college would make it higher. He only came with three APs and they weren't even on a college transcript so they counted for nothing. But I think what job you choose will impact your initial ranking and pay more then a few college credits.

My brother had a great experience in the Navy so far even though he is not re enlisting. He was able to buy a fairly nice car with no car payments or loans. And is making more money than most people his age and has low expenses. He gets like 90 credits for his experience and the gi bill will pay for his schooling. As far as future employment goes he has valuable life skills and technical skills that would make him an asset in the workplace. My parents wish more schools would talk more about alternatives to college. Compared to some of his peers with thousands of dollars in debt, no skills, not much work experience and still living with thier parents. Not saying those things are all bad, but it puts my brother ahead of the curve.

Our high school basically everyone went to college and they never even bring up the military as an option. It might not be a good for everyone but it was postive for my family. And my parents aren't worried at all when he gets out no way he will be moving back with mom and dad.
So it that actually depends. If you have a 24 plus credits you come out of bootcamp as an E-3. If you pick certain rates(Navy Job) suchas a Musician you'll end up as a E5 after you pass your intial A-school. These are what we call push buttons.  My job got me push button E4 but I also had over 24 credits and got E3 out of bootcamp and E4 right after I completed A school. The E5 out of school as so depends on length of schooling Nukes and some CT rates get that.  Wheb they leave the DEP program depends on what job he picks.

Yeah, my brother was Nuke so that explains it. I don't know all of how it works but that makes sense. I just knew job plays a big part and effects it more than schooling especially if you only have one or two college classes under your belt.
