Has anyone taken the AP Music Theory test? I searched the forums with no results; I also do not have access to the specific exam feedback section, since the test I'm studying for (College Algebra) doesn't have IC sections.
I have taken piano since I was seven, and thought Music Theory would be a good place to pick up some credit -- after some intensive work on the subject, of course.
Any feedback is much appreciated,
R.

I don't have any experience with that test, but the old standby REA probably has an AP test prep book. You could check the library. I will also shoot my brother an email- he is a high school music teacher and has a masters in music too, so has taken LOTS of theory- he might be able to suggest some good books for really learning the material. (but IMO, that's never as useful as using a test prep book)

Unhappily, they don't. That's one thing that makes me a little apprehensive about the exam.
Wikipedia's description of the test is also a bit daunting. There is actually a
sight-singing section. That sounds...interesting. (The Wikipedia article also has
a few resources linked at the bottom of its page.)

Library. I will take a gander. Any help anyone can give me would be huge!
Thanks,

yikes....I wonder if you could contact College Board for a suggested reading list? (if they don't list one in the exam description) SOMEONE has to make a prep book. Also, maybe call around to area high schools and see who offers this test- they won't all offer it. Anyway, once you find someone offering it, maybe the AP teacher can suggest a prep guide?

Oh, now that's just scary

I have sent my brother an email, I'll paste it here when he replies.
