So the time has come, no more procrastinating. I just finished my first semester of college after getting out of the navy. I want to have all of my business prerequisites done next semester so I can be admitted into the business college fall of 2013. Since a calculus class is one of the requirements it's either CLEP it or take the class.
I went ahead and registered for a business calculus class next spring, just in case I failed the CLEP. I figured I might as well as study, take the test and hope for the best. At best I pass and don't have to sit through a college class. At worst I fail the test but helped myself prepare for the college class.
It's going to be interesting since the highest math I ever took was precalculus and the last time I touched math was a correspondence course 6 years ago. I plan on taking it towards the end of December or the beginning of January. I still have to contact the testing centers to figure out what their schedules are like during the winter break.
Wish me luck.
Cleps Passed:
Information Systems & Computer Applications - 64
Spanish - 58
Analyzing & Interpreting Lit - 71
Principles of Macroeconomics - 53
Principles of Microeconomics - 61
Introductory Sociology - 54
Calculus - 51
Biology - 67

The very BEST of luck. If attitude counts, it's in the bag.

The name sounds evil though, I gotta say. The word Khan doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

I decided to go with the Thinkwell calculus video study course recommend by Shawn A. I found myself kind of freaking out and dreading start studyings, so I just decided to stop thinking and start doing.
I went through the first introductory section. I'm liking it so far, you watch a video of a somewhat nerdy guy, who is actually pretty funny, teach concepts. You see him work through concepts similar to what the math guy on Khan academy does, but in a slight different way. Then you have practice problems to do at the end of the lesson.
I spoke with the test center and after the new year they won't start testing again until the week of the 7th so that gives me about 30 days or so of studying. There's 22 sections in the thinkwell course so I'll try to cover a 1 to 1.5 sections each day.

Good luck. You might want to pick up a calc textbook too. There are a bunch of options on the straighterline and CLEP site. Straighterline is another option for calc credit.
