Been a while since I checked in here, so here I am, holding myself accountable I can't remember exactly where I was last time I updated, but I'm standing at 45 credits right now, thanks mostly to Shmoop, where I am doing a speedrun through the world of literature. all that reading is finally paying off. I've passed five courses so far; I'm starting with the ones most likely to grant upper level credit at TESU. Contemporary lit has some serious issues with the unit tests, so I've decided to drop it, and Women's Lit has some sort of programming bug that wiped out all my progress at the end of Unit 4. I've put a ticket in; we'll see what happens. If it can't be resolved, I might just take the tests again, or say nah and move on. I've passed five courses in six days, and... I'm tired, boss. But money is tight, so I need to wring as much out of my month's subscription as I can. I wasted almost a week on the Contemporary Lit course. C'est la vie.
That is really impressive.
Edit: Nevermind. I saw your other thread describing each course. Bravo!

New year, new post!
I now stand at 66 credits. In a few days I'll find out about my JST transcripts. If all goes well, that'll put me at 90 credits. I'm really, really hoping all goes well.
Assuming I get what I'm hoping for from my army transcript, I've got 10 courses left to get through to earn either a BALS: Humanities degree or possibly even an English degree. Then my main concern becomes money -- how to pay for the capstone and the out of state fee.
A year ago I'd just found out about the Big Three and this forum. I thought the quickest I could finish would be two years, if all the stars aligned. I didn't know about JST transcripts, and Shmoop hadn't rolled out their literature courses. I guess the point is, times are changing, and it is getting easier all the time to find a way towards a degree, but you have to keep poking around looking for shorter paths up the mountain. You have to stay flexible. And you have to keep grinding, no matter what. Momentum is important.
Happy new year to all my fellow mountain climbers.

So much progress, so fast! Wow!
I just noticed that you have Business Ethics from Study.com on your Next Up list, but it duplicates with The Institutes' class. Maybe a psych class instead?
Also, Saylor has Intro to Comparative Politics which might be an overlap study-wise with some of the other things you're taking.

Oh, is it an exact duplicate? Please tell me it isn't an exact duplicate. I was taking it because it's an upper level ethics class (translates as PHI 384) and I was just hedging my bets in the event of the Shmoop courses not getting UL determinations at TESU for the BALS: Humanities. In fact, my worst case plan was: Corporate Communication (Saylor), Marketing Communications (TECEP), Corporate Communication (Study.com), Business Communication (Study.com) and Business Ethics (Study.com) for the 15 hours UL humanities. Vietnam War should cover the the 3 hour UL Liberal studies requirement.

Sorry, they both count as PHI-384.
Corporate Communication (Saylor) COM-373,
Marketing Communications (TECEP) MAR-321,
Corporate Communication (Study.com) is this new? I don’t see it on the Study list,
Business Communication (Study.com) COM-300
Business Ethics (Study.com) duplicate PHI-384

I am sure you've already seen this on the TESU website, but it might be useful for other veterans who are trying to figure out financial resources for TESU.

This is not a course that has college credit, and even if it did, it would probably either duplicate MAN-373 or COM-300.

I'm looking over my notes, and can't find where I got this one from. Obviously I made a mistake somewhere :/
So that leaves me two humanities courses short for a BALS: Humanities degree (if none of the Shmoop courses come in as upper level). Psychology classes, if I'm not wrong, count as liberal arts, but not humanities.
Hm.

Hm.
Psych courses count as SocSci (which is not Hum, you are correct). TESU doesn't really talk in terms of "liberal arts" as much as Humanities vs. SocSci.
Here are some UL HUM options (I included course numbers that I have, obviously get them pre approved before you take them):
UExcel
- Bioethics: Philosophical Issues PHI-475 ($145)
- Ethics: Theory & Practice ($355)
- Interpersonal Comm COM-330 ($355)
SL
- Intro to Religion REL-405
Tor
- Ethics of Comm I & II
- Foundations of Moral Behavior I & II
- Principles of Moral Development I & II
CSU-Global ($250)
10 different Comm courses
CSU-Pueblo IS ($495)
U of Idaho IS ($510)
LSU DL ($728)

The thing is, though, that it doesn't really matter as long as you have 15 upper level hours in Liberal Studies (not necessarily Humanities).
TESU says:
Students complete 30 credits in the area of study that include at least 15 credits at the 300/400 level and no more than 6 credits at the 100 level. This will include 18 credits of Humanities courses and an additional 12 credits of Liberal Studies courses.
As long as you have a total of 30 Liberal Studies credits with 15 upper level, you should be good. Eighteen of those credits- and that could be all 12 of the "additional 12 credits of Liberal Studies courses-" need to be upper level.
At the moment you have these planned or completed:
Study HIS-351 A History of Vietnam War 3UL
Saylor COM-373 Managerial Communications 3UL
Study COM-300 Introduction to Business Communication 3UL
TECEP MAR-321 Marketing Communications 3UL
so all you need is three more credits of any UL Liberal Studies, since your Shmoop/ CLEP/ etc. should give you plenty of Humanities hours for the 30 total. Maybe a Study psych class?
