Change to TESC history major requirements

Bummer about the Civil War test.

looks like I'm going with LSU.

Thanks for all the help! You guys are awesome.

edited to add: Do you know if "the Civil War" and "Western Europe" are 100 level or 200 level? Also, I've already taken the Western Civ I clep. If I take World History I and II to satisfy the 200 level requirement, can I still use Western Civ I and II for Social Sciences?

Civil War and Western Europe are 200 level at TESC. You can use Western Civ as a Gen Ed Social Science.

When I took the ECE exam Literacy Instruction in the elementary school TESC originally only gave me 6 100 level credits. ECE recommends it for 6 Upper level credits I appealed and got the 6 300 level credits. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this with Civil war.

I have become less interested in a second BA, but if I do go for it I would probably need Civil war as upper

Linda, on the other hand TESC has Vietnam War and Modern Middle East as UL, which probably isn't the ACE recommendation. If that's correct, I am not sure if it would be worth it to stir up that potential hornet's nest by making an issue of the Civil War being a 200 level course at TESC (and note that their own Civil War course is a 200 level, which probably explains why). I guess that wasn't a factor with that ECE exam you mentioned above.

Anyway, I have a question related to the credit given by TESC. Excelsior gives upper level undergrad credit for individual graduate courses,, and I have taken one (History of the Southwest) from Western New Mexico University, so does anyone know if TESC would give me UL credit for it?
Thanks in advance...

I just had my degree plan from TESC approved for history. I originally was completing an English major until they made the changes to increase the 300-400 level courses to 15 credits. See below. I know they say 18 credits but look below under history credits. That statement is from TESC.

American History
CLEP U.S. History I
CLEP U.S. History II

Western or World Civ.
CLEP Western Civ I
CLEP Western Civ II

Non Western History
DSST Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union

History Electives
> Complete 18 semester hours of History Department courses
> as electives. At least 15SH must be at the 300/400 level to
> satisfy the requirement of 18SH of 300/400 level coursework
> in the Area of Study. LIB-495 (Liberal Arts Capstone) can
> satisfy 3SH of this requirement.

Excelsior exam HISX340 World Conflicts Since 1900 (3cr)
DSST HIS-309 Intro. to the Mod. Middle (3cr)
DSST HIS-351 A History of Vietnam War. (3cr)
TESC Course HIS-356 War and American Society. (6 credits)
DSST HIS-222 Western Europe Since 1945 (3cr)

Hope this helps.

Jen

15 credits remaining!!!

I think the only thing that changed was that they took away the 200 level as part of the required 18 Semester Hours. Part A, B, and C are still required. I was fortunate enough that they did my evaluation before the change.
To fullfill my remainding credit,
I will need
HIS 101 & 102 Western Civ I & II
HIS 300 level - ECE World Conflicts since 1900
HIS 351 History of Vietnam War DSST
HIS 309 Intro Modern Middle East DSST

and just in case,
HIS 222 Western Europe since 1945
and
I might attempt 400 level ECE American Dream for 6 SH
