I didn't find it too hard. I did take the psych. cleps before it and there was some overlap. I used REA and Instacert. If you are a paying member look at Specific Exam Feedback section. There is TONS of helpful info there. If not, try searching Intro. Sociology. Also check out free-clep-prep.com. There's lots of links to free online resources there.

This test is pretty easy--I studied the REA and watched Standard Deviants and after a few weeks of light prep, took the test and scored a 62, if I remember correctly. I took it last June, and these are the things that I wrote down that came up on my test.

I used IC, took the peterson's test and used the book "Sociology: the Essentials" because I could buy it for a dollar online.
Then I wrote a few pages of notes from the book and ripped out the Glossery to bring everywhere to read. I passed with a 58. It was my first CLEP. Studied about 3 weeks total. I think the book pretty much covered everything I had on the test.

One of the easier tests you will ever take. Due to the introductory nature of it, and the vocabulary of sociology (which lends to the answer often being given right in the question) I was able to nail the practice exams from Peterson's before I actually even studied.
I suggest going to the library and finding an intro Sociology book. Just about any one should be good enough. I read one, took another practice exam, then took the real thing and got almost as high of a score as you possibly could get. The point is (other than reminding the world of how well I did on this test hilarious) this isn't an exam that you should worry too much about. Studying for it (for me anyway) was a pleasure and I really appreciate what I gained from it- savor it, and try to remember as much as you can because it really is great information.
