California Southern University Law School - No Longer Enrolling
#1
https://www.calsouthern.edu/online-law-d.../jd-degree   I hope this doesn’t mean the law school is closing. Even though they are non-ABA accredited, they are regionally accredited.  But they also have abysmal Baby Bar and General Bar passage rates.  I hope they are merely revamping the law school’s curriculum and start enrolling again. I like this school despite the limitations of the degree and the likelihood of not passing the bar.

I can't see why anyone would go there, honestly. If you can't pass the bar, then what's the point?

To say you're in law school? LOL
Charlotte School of Law in my town closed- I thought it was going to be more dramatic, but it's just kinda gone.

Hmm, they stopped enrolling people some time back. I remember looking at it last year at least and they weren't enrolling anyone in the JD program then either. I assumed they were either retiring the Law program or revamping it.

As far as I know, that is the only program within the Cal Southern system that has stopped enrolling people. At least I know the business school is still active.
Working on: Debating whether I want to pursue a doctoral program or maybe another master's degree in 2022-23

Well the former (and most recent) CalSouthern Dean is now the Dean at Abraham Lincoln University Law School.  So something must be afoot.

Maybe this will help those who would want to get a degree from a school like that.

A guy who works with me went there (Charlotte School of Law), got his degree. I got this job, the same one he has, and was hired at the same time he was with just having an associates and working on finishing the bachelors at the time.

The types of people who would attend a school like this would not look up the pass rates. They also can't attend and/or get into an ABA-accredited law school.

Some people just might want to study law because they find it interesting. There's a guy in my town who's a successful insurance agent. He got bored in his 40s and went to law school for the hell of it. "Lawyers are involved in almost everything from business to crime to real estate to politics. I figured they know how the mechanics of the world works. I just wanted to see how the mechanics of the world worked." He did ultimately pass the bar and open a practice, but all he does is a small handful of mediation cases and handles the legal needs of a couple non-profits. It's just a hobby. His law office is his man-cave.
If there was a really affordable online law school, I'd be kind of interested myself with no intention of taking the bar or practicing. Really about the same reasons. Just interested in the legalese behind every political move and high profile criminal case or investigation.

Couldn't you just self-study without enrolling in a law school?

In theory. But in practice, I gotta have some goal to motivate me. Need some checkpoints and framework.
