Can anyone answer a quick question?
#1
Hello!

I have to take an oral communications course, and I am trying to decide between the DSST test Principles of Public Speaking and the Excelsior test on Interpersonal Communications. Does anyone have any experience with these courses? I've found some great info. on the DSST test but haven't been able to find out much on the Excelsior exam.

I am a little intimidated by having to come up with a speech on the fly for the DSST test. Is there something like that on the Excelsior test as well?

Can anyone offer any guidance?

Thanks so much for helping out a newbie!

The DSST is a multiple choice test followed by you giving an impromptu extemporaneous speech into a recorder. You are given a topic and get 10 minutes to come up with your speech outline, then 3-5 minutes to talk. I bought some cheap books on Amazon to study for the multiple choice part. For the speech part, I'm in the military so I just did it.
