so I use rad instead of degrees. also what is difference between flo and sci? for the exp x10 to power of something eg 4x10-4 is this the ee button or what does ee buton do? do i need to type full 4x10-4 out as i cant find exp no or x10 x button. also for cubed root my calculator has a cubed function sampler does not so do you type 3 then press root sign then 27? also theres no shift button so to work out ph questions what would be the alternative on clep sampler? i am stressing i called clep centre and they cant help any advice would be great.
Try flo and sci. Flo is the full number. Sci (scientific notation) is the number compressed like 1000 is 1x10^3 or 0.1 is 1x10^-1 for example.
I doubt they will ask something that is not on the calculator, but the cube root is the same as number^(1/3), which means raised to the one-third power.
Shift is not on calculators.
Try the EE button for power of 10.
Just relax and try it out on your regular calculator and then the CLEP calculator. You are in good shape that you have a couple of days to work on some sample problems with it. I only had a couple of minutes during the pre-test.
ok i will practice thanks so much how about the hyp or arc option do u tick to have them to i wish we could take a normal calculator in. Im dreadin exam never mind calculator. Really appreciate your help. The ee wont work as exp button for me but i assume it will in exam its not even doing anything. so u use xsquare root sign y tp get cubed root eg 3 then the (xsquareroot sign y symbol) then 27 then = sorry for my stupidity i just want to make sure i know how to use it right as i think exam hard enough as it is. thanks very much for your advice. any other tips?
For cube root of 27, type 27^(1/3)=3. I don't remember what the button was for ^; do they have Y raised to X? If so, type 27, Y raised to X, (1/3), equals sign, and you should get 3. Does that work?
do you hav an email and il email u a pic of calculator i cant work oout cubed root it has x root sign n y which i thought u would type in 3 then press it then 27 then == but doesn give right answer also the ee button wont put it to the power of hopefully it works in the exam. thanks for your help
For cube root, try 27, button to right of square root, 3, equals sign. Did you get 3?
If so, try another one - try 8, button to right of square root, 3, equals sign. Did you get 2?
Yes thats working thanks sooo much! however ee not working must work for exam. You are great! any more tips for exam i am trying to be positive been studyin for 2 months its very difficult.
Try not to be too stressed. (I know that is hard to do!) Try to get a good review of everything. Try to get some rest. There aren't a lot of problems, so getting to know your calculator is good, but don't spend too much time on it.
For EE, be on Deg and Flo again.
Type 1.5, EE, 2. Then X, 3, equals sign. Did you get 450 or 4.5 x 10^2?
Okay, try EE with Deg and Sci. If you can practice using EE on another calculator, then you will know what is supposed to happen during the pre-test trial.
