First day of class
#1
Well, its the start of the new term at EC, and its the first day of class for me... Here I sit browsing the discussion groups (instead of working) feeling some slight trepidation about the process. I know once I get a little deeper into the course and get a feel for the way things work, that things should go swimmingly enough.

I'm just hoping I'm not overdoing things with taking 3 classes and studying for the GRE, all at the same time, but if we don't push ourselves, how do we know what we can and can't do?

Anyone else starting classes today?
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

Wondering the same thing!

Studying for psych GRE in April, just starting an online class today that is required by my employer (a school), starting teaching a new class tomorrow at my job, and still need to do my taxes :ack:

Time to stop procrastinating and just do it! Wait, isn't that a Nike commercial.

Sounds like a pretty hefty load. At least the Net+, Sec+, Server+, and CCNA have a bit of overlap... That should make things go a bit easier for you. What classes are you taking?

Hey guys I plan to take 2 IT classes starting Mar 1st(not too late). Was wondering it is doable or not. Will it be too much work load for someone working FT. Just ordered text books today. Please advice..I still have time until tomorrow to decide ?

Should be manageable enough if you're able to allocate the time wisely. I'm taking 3 classes, studying for the GRE subject, working a little over full-time (we've basically been rewriting our EMR software to meet the requirements of CCHIT certification, as well as adding a bunch of features our clients have asked for) and juggling a wife, kid, and 2 dogs... Hehe

So far, it looks like I'm going to be putting about 30 hours a week towards my classwork (one of my teachers is expecting 12-20 hours for a single class, so I'm budgeting a little more) and probably 10-15 hours a week for the GRE Psych test. EC recommends budgeting 3 'real-time hours' per credit hour, but in some cases you may need more, especially if the course material is brand new to you.

Are you on 15-week terms or 8? I found 8-week terms 2 classes doable but it was all I did besides work.

Wow, that's a lot. You must realize that with that school/work load, your social life, etc. will be on hold for a while. You can do it though - push through, manage your time wisely, and you'll be so relieved once it's over.

I find that making sure I slept enough and ate just really light and healthy helps during a push time like you are in.
