Ok, I am confused as I was told today by a business team adviser that these two DSST's , Ethics in America and Intro to World Religions are not upper level at Excelsior and I was referred to the Student Guide for Credit as the proof.
Not sure how to proceed, as others on here are saying they are getting it approved as upper level.

Hi Peace123!
Thanks for the update; I hope you will be able to get upper-level credit for these. It doesn't necessarily make sense, but could it have anything to do with which degree/school you enrolled in or when you took the exams?
I am really looking forward to a new Student Guide. I still haven't tried this officially and my advisor has not been available to triple-check this change for me.
Has anyone else been able to get confirmation on this difference?

Hi Nap,
Not sure what the difference is. Perhaps the liberal arts has one criteria and business has another or maybe not all the advisors are aware of it being changed.
I guess time will tell if they really have changed their acceptance to upper level.

Let's hope this is the situation, and it will get clearly stated for all advisors and students soon.

No, not that I have heard; I wonder what it takes to change that. "Excelsior University" does have a nice ring to it. Don't you think?

So, here's what I got from my advisor today....
Denise, you are correct with your information. All of the exams listed on DANTES website as upper level credit are being honored as upper level credit at Excelsior now. There will be an update to our Student Guide to Credit by Examination which shows this shortly. :hurray:
Denise
MS - Management and Leadership, WGU 2022
BS - Liberal Arts - Depths in Healthcare and Psychology, Excelsior College 2014
Certificate - Workers Comp Admin, UC Davis Extension, 1995
AA - Licensed Vocational Nursing and Selected Studies, Mesa College 1989
Certificate - Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN), Mesa College 1977
Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun. Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior. And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.

So my status report was updated with my Dantes Religion exam today and it was posted as lower level credit. I am really starting to think maybe the change to recognizing it as Upper Level may only be for the Liberal Arts school.

I have a hard time believing that they will do this differently in each school. It's possible, but why do it that way?
Can you appeal? I think it is too soon to give up on getting your credit for this.

Nap- I am not giving up, just waiting for a new student guide to come out to see what it says.
If it turns out to be different for different schools, it would remind me of how excelsior treats ALEKS- Intro Stat differently depending on the school you are in.
In the liberal arts school it is transcribed by Excelsior as upper level but in a business degree I believe they only give lower level credit for it.
