Hey all, if you're looking for a backup voip number, this is a pretty good deal... Link:
https://appsumo.com/marketplace-hushed-l...one-number
If you logon to the StackSocial site, it gets even cheaper, can be had for $20... Link:
https://stacksocial.com/sales/hushed-pri...s-6000-sms?
One caveat though, you have to either call or text from that number 1 time every 6 months, or you lose the number and the deal!
It is a great phone for online shopping, signing up for things, or whatever that requires a "telephone" and not just an email address!
So, if you're a crazy person like me, I have two cell phones, one as a back up. Then I use this as a voip burner or trapper phone...
Note: There are free options, but most of them, if you don't use the number in a couple of weeks, you LOSE the number!
This option allows you to keep the number! And I just found out that VDAY2021 gets you 15% off as well!

I do the same thing with 2 phones. The 2nd phone is just my old android phone with Google Voice and Hangouts Dialer on it. No need to send it a text every 6 months. I use it quite a bit when I misplace my main phone.

Another reason someone would want to get this is for International Students or their family member to have a "FREE" phone line for corresponding back and forth instead of paying long distance charges. This would mean, for example, people in the Caribbean for "Med School" would have an option to call home (Canada & US) for FREE! I think this would be an easier version than using some instant messenger such as WeChat or What'sApp...

App TextFree give you a free phone number, you have to use it once every 30 days. This is what I use for Craigslist ads or places where I giving out my phone number to strangers.
I also have Google Voice and a PayAsGo phone that I pay $10 a year for. I got a dual sim phone.

Also try Dingtone. Sometimes, TextFree doesn't work for number confirmations but Dingtone does or vice versa.

I abused text free when I was traveling through Asia for stateside calling. The value of these voips is grossly underrated. In many places it was better than the sim card service I had.
