Hi all, this forum has been a great help to me and I appreciate it.
I put together an outline of my potential BSBA Marketing degree plans from TESC.
I was wondering if some of you "pros" could look over it and perhaps share some insight?
If it looks okay, I'd like to submit to the Wiki, as I noticed there's not a whole lot of action going on with marketing degrees.
This can be done for less money. For example, the TEEX courses (free) can be used as business electives and NFA and the Kaplan PLA course (both free) can be used as free electives. CLEP Composition duplicates Straighterline's composition courses. Additionally, the modular version is only worth 3 credits. TECEPs are $37 per credit hour for a total of $111 each. I recommend looking at these plans. You've probably already seen my plan for the BSBA in Marketing. You can follow my Per Credit Tuition Plan for the BSBA in General Management just replacing the General Management specialization with what you have for Marketing. http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...post174813 Sanantone's General Education Options - Degree Forum Wiki

I did some research on the Teex and thought it would be a great addition, so I added it.
I don't think I really want to mess with Kaplan or NFA though.
I took away the xtra composition course, thank you for catching that.
Does everything else look decent? (not cost wise, just "TESC would probably accept these," wise.)
I've heard that the Kaplan course only takes a couple of hours. I don't think the NFA courses will be all that time-consuming either. TEEX courses, on the other hand, can be time-consuming.
Maybe someone else can answer, but I'm not quite sure TESC will let you use Business Ethics and Society and Business Ethics. Maybe they will, but people usually use the Business Ethics and Society DSST for the Business in Society requirement. You can use the Ethics in America DSST for the ethics requirement. I, personally, would try to avoid Straighterline courses when you have so many test options, but it's all about your preference. Also, I wouldn't upload that degree plan until you've finished it. You might make changes on the way.

Chattenoire,
Your degree plan looks great!!!
Good job taking advantage of the overlap in the ethics courses! And Yes, you can use all of them! What might occur on your academic evaluation - the DSST Business Ethics & Society (BUS302) will land in business core, while both SL Business Ethics (PHI384) and TECEP Env Ethics (ETH210) in personal/social responsibility. Regardless, they are all approved exams/courses.
General electives: CLEP College Mathematics 6cr (MAT102/103), this exam is basically HS level math and super easy after completing your Aleks Algebra courses.
Business Core: Consider Penn Foster Financial Management as a much easier choice to fill the principles of finance requirement. Course now has an unproctored final so is stress free. Send me a PM when you are ready to take TECEP Strategic Mgmt, I have my notes and additional resources to help study for the exam.
Business electives: I would replace the TECEP Negotiations & Conflict Mgmt (very difficult exam) with one of the business exams listed under free electives.
Free electives: Aleks Intermediate Algebra (MAT115). TECEP Computer Concepts and Applications (CIS107); test immediately after COS-101 to take advantage of subject overlap.
Good luck!
Edit to Add:
An alternate option - you could substitute DSST Ethics in America (PHI287) for TECEP Environmental Ethics. The DSST has more available study resources while the TECEP is a road less travelled. To still meet the residency requirement, take the TECEP Liberal Arts Mathematics (MAT105) exam just after CLEP College Mathematics (MAT 102/103). Liberal Arts Math, another HS math exam, would fit under section B: Human Culutes/Physical & Natural World and would replace one of the SL courses.
I would take the following exams/courses in this order:
Saylor Intro to Computer Science, TECEP Computer Concepts & Applications
SL Bus Ethics, DSST Business Ethics and Society, TECEP Environmental Ehtics
ALT: DSST Ethics in America, SL Bus Ethics, DSST Business Ethics and Society
Aleks Intermed Algebra and College Algebra, CLEP College Mathematics, Aleks Statistics.
ALT: Aleks Interm Algebra & College Algebra, CLEP Math, TECEP Lib Arts Math, Aleks Stats.

I've completed the Kaplan course and am working on the TEEX courses now. What I can say is that the Kaplan is a cup of tea and the TEEX courses are tough bread. Seriously. The Kaplan is super easy and quick to complete - you can do it in a day or two. Just read through the modules and answer the quizzes. No need to do the real PLA work as you're not planning to apply to Kaplan University anyway. On the other hand, some TEEX courses can be really grueling if you're not familiar with computer science stuff. A 5-hour course is taking me 15 hours or more. Cause some concepts are just so tough to understand. Not everyone will find the TEEX very difficult though... it'd probably help a lot if you are familiar with computer systems.

haha! Well if it makes you feel better... it's the feminine version of "black cat" in french (I'm obsessed with black cats)... I play World of Warcraft, and black cat was taken, so was forced to pick this name... and it stuck. Ha! ;-)
Thank you all so much for the information. I will work on editing this a little more tonight. I will add Kaplan and a few other that were mentioned. I was worried about adding any additional math as I was a highschool drop out and never paid attention in math in high school... I seriously just passed the GED math portion by 1 point (in all fairness, I didn't study at all.) but I will go ahead and add that math as well if Aleks is a good enough study for it.
Will post again soon. Thank you so much for the information and encouragement!!
Okay, here is my version 3. I made some switcharoos and took your advice. Thank you guys!
PS - Ignore the totals at the bottom and the order numbers, I'm too tired to mess with it right now and will tomorrow. Less than 1 minute ago">tesc bsba marketingv3.xlsx (Size: 13.04 KB / Downloads: 0)
