Woah now, don't get too caught up in instant gratification with ALEKS. For some people, they might remember what they did in highschool or have had reason to practice it (and maths needs to be practiced). Some other people here are
in highschool and are getting their study/training directly.
In the worst case scenario, ALEKS can be completely self-contained because it's a learning suite, not just assessment. Like a CLEP, if you know the material inside out, you can knock it out in under an hour, if not, it might takes months to prepare.
Your best bet is to mix and match any and all sources to get a feel for the material covered in the various ALEKS courses. One way to think about it is like a musical instrument or driving assessment - if you've never done it before or for years then you will have to put the hours in to get to the right standard. You can definitely do it.
Big props to perserverance11 for the eponymous hard work
