Congratulations tcc,

Sorry I am so late in congratulating you. I missed the 'update' that you tagged onto the end of your last post.

You are probably better off just posting a new message when you have an important update like that. If you edit an existing post, it doesn't move the thread to the top of the forum (as it would if you posted a new message). So nobody is alerted that the thread has anything new to read.

Anyway, congratulations again on your pass.

Well done,
Snazzlefrag

somehow my threads move to the top when someone posts to one, even an old one. the old one is viewed along with all the current ones. so my list is by the lastest post followed by the next latest post. i see all posts. when i post something it moves to the top of the list (except for stickies, the three are always at the top of the list) because now it is the latest post. i'm not sure if this is the setting that does that but i have "Thread Display Mode" set to "Linear - Oldest First."

I believe what Snazzlefrag is talking about is editing or updating an existing post i.e. going back in and updating a post in a thread (by selecting the "Edit" button at the bottom of the post) rather than posting a reply to the thread with the update. Just to clarify, if you post a new message in an existing thread, it moves it back to the top. If you edit an existing post in a thread (one that you posted), it does not move it to the top.

As fas as your settings, you are set to display messages from oldest (first posts) to newest (latest posts). You can change this setting, but it is typically how most view posts. In addition, if you have your settings set up this way, and wish to only see new posts in a thread, you can select the "down arrow" next to thread title. If there is no "down arrow" displayed and the thread title is not is bold, then there are no new posts.

Please don't think I am patronizing anyone, just trying to help out.

On another note, isn't it kind of ironic that the discussion has turned to this given the thread name Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Haaaaaa! Yes...it is ironic.

You are right. We have the option to go back and edit/change ANY post we have ever made. We could go back and "edit" a post we made a year ago and nobody would know, unless they happened to be reading through that thread for some other reason. Only threads with BRAND NEW POSTS are elevated to the top of the forum and 'bolded'.

So if anyone has anything important to add to their earlier comments, and they want to make sure that everyone sees it, it is better to post a new message than to tack it on to an earlier message they have already posted to the thread.

Congratulations.....you have now learned all the material necessary to pass Excelsior's Information Literacy exam.

Hi, Guys
I'm new at this but just reading what has been said puts me at ease a little bit, but was wondering if I could get a copy of that pdf file to study too.
Thanks

Ok, so I'm taking the intro to computing test on Monday morning. I haven't studied a lot, but have studied (using IC, petersons practice test, and a internet website on a McGraw Hill textbook). I made a 67 on my first peterson's practice test last night and studied all day today and still only made a 67 on the second one. I am getting worried. Does anyone who has taken this test know how close the Peterson's practice test score will convert to the real test. I am starting to stress and thought this was going to be an easy one to study for, but have found it harder than expected. Any input would be great.
Thanks,
Deb
