McDonalds and Excelsior
#1
It seems Excelsior offers reduced fees for employees of McDonalds Fast Food. However has anyone any experience in either gaining credit from Hamburger Uni or getting the reduction from Excelsior? Does it only apply to McDonalds Managers or do crew members get the benefit of reduced fees at Excelsior without having the Hamburger U courses completed. Its a good motivator to choose an employer! your comments would be appreciated.

I know that there are dozens of Hamburger U courses that are ACE evaluated, meaning any of the big 3 (and others) should award appropriate credit for those coures. Just curious, have you earned credit this way?

I'm moving to the States in July this year and seeing if I can get a job with McDonalds would help me in my enrollment so I've not done any of the Ham U stuff yet but considering working my way through college because the fee reduction is significant for annual enrollment for EC when working for a preferred partner employer.

That is really interesting, and adds a lot (more) of respect for Excelsior in my book. Affording higher education is difficult in the current economy. The chances that someone struggling financially will end up with a job like McDonalds is high. That seems like a great partnership, offering options and opening doors to individuals that may have no other means. Thank you for sharing word of it!

I think that's a great idea, but for appearance's sake I don't think I would exactly brag to all my friends and bosses that I went to a college that gave me credit for some of my work at McDonald's. Just sayin...:roflol:

The idea for the post wasn't to supply information but to gather experiences. You don't get credit for experience you get credit at any school in the United States who accepts ACE approved courses because all of Hamburger University Courses are college level courses. What I'm trying to establish is has anyone availed of this reduced fees for working at McDonalds and attending Excelsior and any details would be wonderful. There are some 20 companies that if you work for them Excelsior will give you reduced fees and depending on degree's and companies and associations McDonalds is listed but details of fees reductions aren't listed. Also information as to weather you need to be in Management to avail of the fees reduction isn't explained.

My company offers a ten percent discount towards hundreds ofschools and 2500 in assistance for part time and 5000 for full time employees. I would suggest finding a full time entry level job that pays your way through online college.

I understand your question, but most of us here are distracted by shiny things and ACE credits.

As far as I know, no one in the recent history of THIS board has disclosed that they were on the EC list- at least I don't think so. You can be the first and be sure to create a post so others can benefit from your experience!
