TESC New Requirements
#1
1) Does anyone know if the new requirements affect me since I applied before they were instated?

And if they do:

2) Is Quantitative Literacy any math class?

3) What do they mean by Information Literacy?

4) What do they mean by Civic Engagement?

5) Do they require a lab now in the science credit? Or can it be just 2 3 credit courses?

There have been a few postings about this. It is my understanding that if you apply before July 1st then you will use the 2014-2015 catalog. If you apply July 1st or after then you will use the new requirements. It was mentioned that a student under a previous catalog requirements could switch to the new catalog requirements if they preferred the new requirements. If you have access to online student services you can get a copy of your current eval. It might be blank if TESC is waiting on transfer credit but it would show you what requirements you have to left to satisfy. The new requirements have not been officially released yet, so there is no way of knowing what classes would meet the new requirements. The website seems to be updating slowly. Some programs may have additional changes beyond the Gen Ed requirements. There may be changes to the AOS as well.

It has been my experience that every college has a similar policy. You lock the catalog when you enroll. As long as you are an active student, you can graduate from the requirements in that catalog. If you decide to 'change' anything about your degree, or by request, you can almost always use the current catalog at the date of your change.

I've also seen liberal versions of this policy where you can request graduation against any catalog that occurred during your enrollment.

When I called - I called twice to see if I would get the same answer - they said that I was locked into the old catalog because I applied before July 1.

----I called about this today. They told me quantitative literacy basically means understanding numbers -> so math class -> on myedison it takes my differential equations course. Information literacy grabbed my c minus english II class. They told me public speaking takes oral communication and I think the civic engagement was history class.
