I know a person who took 17 years to earn a doctorate (including time away from the program). Entered at 26, graduated at 43.

I know someone who took 21 months to earn two bachelor's degrees while serving full-time in the military. Started at 19, graduated at 20.

For the working adult, the pathway to a degree is often not a straight line.
