Hey All,
I have a midterm coming up for one of my classes and I have not taken an exam on ProctorU before. It was confirmed in the syllabus, through exam registration, and via an online chat I had with ProctorU that pdf Textbook would be allowed during the test.
I also have a bunch of pages of notes I took in google docs that I will pdf up for the exam so I dont have any weird issues with the proctor.
Anyone experience any issues with using these types of resources during an exam? Should I transpose my notes over to paper to make sure they dont give me a problem? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The midterm is two hours long and consists of multiple-choice and essay questions. It is closed-book and covers all reading and assignments from Modules 1 through 4. This is for me, for my BSBA in Finance.

If an exam were open book why would it need proctoring?

To make sure the student is using only the permitted book or books and not Google, a large language model, a colleague doing the work, etc.

Many colleges don't use proctors with open book exams.

My Calculus course at TESU back in 2023 was open book, though I don't remember if PDF was an option (I had a physical book). It's been some time since I had a ProctorU exam, but I am fairly certain they will go through what is permitted during the exam before the start of the actual exam. If there were any concerns about that, this is where I would address them. If they do not permit what the syllabus states, you can always decide not to take the midterm that day, reschedule your midterm for a later date. It doesn't even have to be "midterm week" since TESU allows the midterm to be taken at any time during the term, up until the last day. It's a simple process, basically just sending an email. I've discussed it on here before (I think). This would give you time to figure out what the disconnect is between the syllabus and the proctor, etc., and determine how you should best proceed before taking the actual exam.

Thanks! If someone decides to print out Google Docs notes onto paper to be safe, how thoroughly does ProctorU inspect physical pages during the desk scan? Do they limit how many physical pages you can have at your desk?

Just to close the thread out. I was all fired up about nothing. I had a PDF with both my textbook and my notes from my google doc. I sent them pictures and gave some additional views of the room at their request and that was it. They logged me into the midterm in Moodle and off I went. Firmly got an A.
Thanks for all the input. Its always appreciated how helpful everyone is on this forum.
