Second Degree Policy
#21
What you say about BA applies also to two BS counting just as one?
Psychology is a BS in EC.

Sorry, I meant to say that at TESU, two BAs or BSBAs or BS degrees count as a single degree when graduated at the same time. The same is not true of EC.

A second degree at Excelsior requires 30 Upper Level credits in the second degree, that's almost enough for a Masters. For your example of having a BSBA and a BS Psychology, you might as well get one at the Masters level after you have conferred on the first one. You can go for a Walden MBA OR MS Psychology, either way you swing things, you will have a Bachelors and a Masters versus two Bachelors. The cost to "upgrade" to a Masters is nominal, and potentially be cheaper than getting that second Bachelors.

Actually, duh, thinking about it... do Psych at EC and then BABA at UMPI. If you finish the BABA in 2 terms, that's $2800. Still cheaper than trying to get 2 degrees at EC.

I just checked TESU and I did not see anymore anything about not earning more than two Baccalaureate Degrees with them. Did the put out the limit?

https://tesu.smartcatalogiq.com/current/...of-Degrees

It appears also a second or Successive degree "Earning a Second or Successive Baccalaureate Degree"
This mean that they change the policy and if I have 2 Bachelors from another university I can still study one with them?
Probably I just cannot find the small print but... what do you think?

It's the first line on that page:

Quote:Award of Degrees Policy

The University will not award more than two Thomas Edison State University associate, baccalaureate or master's degrees to any one student.

But if you got an EC degree or a foreign degree, maybe they would also allow you to have two TESU degrees now? You're right that the rest of the wording on that page is ambiguous in that regard.

You can have as many degrees as you can handle (meaning outside of TESU), it's just that TESU will only allow two from them at the Associates, Bachelors and Masters level. I assume it's the same for their two doctoral programs as well (DBA, DNP)...

I'm pretty sure that TESU used to state that they would not award more than 1 degree if you already had a degree from somewhere and you couldn't get a TESU degree if you already had 2 degrees elsewhere.
