Spanish I now on Sophia

A month for just that one course, as long as you have a second course running during that time (or more after another course was completed), that's fair timing as some courses will take longer than others. This course trumps the StraighterLine offering for the price and because it's more of an intro course. I think this course would be better than the CLEP or Study.com options too.

Pre-Med Online, MSc Biomedical Sciences (Starting Jan 2026)
In Progress: UoPeople BS Health Science

Completed: UMPI BAS & MAOL (2025)

I agree! This was my last Sophia class Sad  completed 11 courses for $300, so totally affordable. ~$27 for each course is so affordable. I have a few more courses with Study and starting Umpi on 8/29.

I thought it was the most challenging Sophia class I have taken. I speak a little Spanish and took 2 years in High School 30 some years ago. The touchstones are the challenging part. The rest I got through in 2 days. Waiting open scores for my Touchstones now.

Type in your speech into Google Translate. Listen to it, then try to repeat it

Yeah I've already been doing that. I go to do the video and forget and/or mispronounce half of it.

I would practice each sentence one at a time until I mastered the words that I didn’t know how to pronounce. I used DeepL.com and Google translate for pronunciation help. I did refer to my writing some in my oral videos as I couldn’t totally memorize it, especially the last one that is a 2-4 minute!

So you did use a bit of your writing to get though the video? See I was wondering if they would count that against me or not? In the rubric they say not to read it word for word.

I would use a script so you don't have to remember.

Practice by talking into google translate and see if it can figure out what you are saying. Keep practicing.

Also spending $20 for a couple of hours with a tutor can do wonders as well. Tell the tutor you only need to practice reading a script.

I definitely did, especially for the 3.1 Touchstone! I didnt just read it, but I did place it level with my camera when I was recording so I could refer to it. I also recorded my video several times to get the best one. As I practiced and re recorded my videos, I actually did memorize it better and became more fluent. I got a 92/100 on the 3.1 oral even occasionally using my writing sample :Smile I went into the course praying for a 70% and I actually ended up getting a final grade of 88%......
