TESC BSBA in Computer Informatin Systems
#1
So, thanks to all the great advice on the forum and through PMs, thanks Brittany, I think I have my road map pretty well laid out in front of me. I tried, as best as I could, to correlate the TESC requirements to my testing plan, as well as my Community College IT classes. Does anyone have any experience with this degree and how classes might convey? I've attached my plan, so if anybody has a few minutes to take a look, I'd greatly appreciate any advice, insight, or identification of any errors on my part. The last thing I want to do is go down the wrong road, only to have to retreat, regroup, and restart.

Hey McNulty, I'm not gonna comment on the gen ed section, just the CBOK and CIS courses.

They're likely not going to take DSST Money and Banking for Managerial Accounting. I completed this requirement with ACC 212 Principles of Accounting 2 (this is assuming NVCC = Northern VA CC).

DSST Org Behavior likely won't fulfill the Biz in Society or International Mgt requirement. They already had my transcript which included this exam and were still saying I had to fullfill the requirement. I took their IM course. Not sure of other possibilities.

DSST International Biz likely won't fulfill the Business Policy requirement. This needs to be a legit capstone course, not offered at a CC.

ITE 221 likely won't fulfill the Sys Anal and Design requirement. Look at ITP 251 Sys Anal and Design.
I m edumakated thanx to distunce lerning.

Many thanks Brian. I am still early in my journey, and have the ability to change course where needed. I will absolutely revisit the requirements that you outlined. Did you also have the International Biz requirement? What class did you use to fulfill this requirement? The rest of the changes look as if they can can be handled without a great deal of trouble. I am glad to have found someone who has already earned the degree that I am working towards. The Virginia connection is also helpful; I assume that TCC classes are similar to those that I have available at NVCC. I really appreciate you taking the time to address my situation. I have nothing less than inspired since finding this forum. Again, you have my gratitude.

Hi, if by international business you mean "business and society or international management", yeah, unfortunately that was around a couple years ago as well. I took their international management course but there may be a cheaper alternative, I just don't know where it is and was under a time crunch to graduate, thus my reasons for taking the path that I did.

And TCC and NVCC class descriptions are all the same, check out: Virginia's Community Colleges.

Oh yeah, one more thing, in gen ed for "managerial or business communications", the course I ended up taking that they accepted was AST 205 Business Communications. Thought I saw DSST Public Speaking on your plan. When I submitted my transcripts I also had SPD 100 Public Speaking on there and they didn't accept that as meeting the requirement. You may be able to find a class somewhere else but the course description will give you an idea of what to look for.

If you're getting in state tuition rates I don't know if you've ever browsed the other schools for on-line courses but most VCCS schools offer the same courses (there's some variety in course delivery) but at different tuition rates. The ones I've dealt with all send free transcripts as well so you might be able to save a few bucks by shopping around. Just an idea...
