Yeah, asking the phone answerer guy is a risky way to get your answer. I don't suggest it. Seriously, it's a RARE QUESTION that someone here hasn't already asked/answered about any one of the big 3. Your best advisors are here. Of course, pulling it up in the course catalog is the best way to find it for yourself- but asking here can be a short cut/quickie answer until you find it in writing. And know that EVERYTHING is in writing.

The math exam meets the math requirement for many degrees, but specifically "algebra or higher" would exclude college math. Just double check what your degree requires and then coordinate that against the college catalog's list of exams/equivalencies.

I am taking ALEKS Beginning Algebra. I am almost postive this will work for me for the AAS Envir Safety and Security program. Fingers crossed, but from what I have learned from others on this forum it should be mat102.

Actually after looking at this thread I may have to rethink and Inter Algebra. I am going to call tooday and see what I find out.

Sorry I meant to say mat 105 earlier. I beleive some people on this forum have taken ALEKS beginning algebra or received creidt for Mat 105.........

MAT-105 Applied Liberal Arts Mathematics
This course offers a broad-based overview of mathematics intended for nonmath majors. The course emphasizes problem solving modeled on real-life applications and satisfies competency requirements for graduation and transfer. Topics include number systems, solution of basic algebraic problems, interpretation of statistical data and calculations involving geometric objects.

It's the same class but you'll get a different number. The liberal arts math you can take at TESC will be 105, however you'll get the numbers 102 or 103 for CLEP College Math and or ALEKS Beginning Algebra. Note that they would duplicate even with different numbers.

Just wanted to add that College Math fulfilled Math 102 and 103 for me at TESC.

I am asking this for a friend I am helping to get her BA- does anyone know if TESC accepts Mathematics education courses to meet the math/nat sci requirememts for the BA in Liberal Studies? These would be math education courses for teaching elementary school. Mathematics Course Descriptions is the link to the course descriptions (it's MTH 211, 212 and 213).

My gut feeling after looking at the course descriptions is no, but does anyone have any better insight than a hunch??????

Thanks in advance...
