TESC undergrad CIS certificate degree plan
#1
So I am trying to get a certificate in computer information systems from TESC, along with my english degree hopefully, because I have most of it done anyway and it might look good on a resume for technical writing.

These are the reqs:

Introduction to Computer Information Systems 3
Management Information Systems 3
Programming Languages 6

Students select six(6) credits from the following 6

* Computer Organization (3)
* Computer Security and Information Theory (3)
* Database Management (3)
* Data Center Management (3)
* Data Communications Systems (3)
* Information Systems using Microcomputers(3)
* System Analysis and Design (3)
* Operating Systems (3)
* Operations Research (3)

Total 18 credits

So I have done so far:

one class in java and one in c# from bellevue university (takes care of languages req)

intro to cis dsst

And I am going to take the MIS dsst as well. I also have a something called Business Telecommunications which I took at Bellevue, which may or may not count towards the 6 elective credits (it was all about networking). I asked them If the electives need to be exactly what they list, and they said no, it is a general guide - anything in the same type of subject would work. Very vague, I know, and I am hoping to get more clarification when they finish my evaluation.

I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for the last 3 (or 6) credits - what can I take that is cheap and not an unbearable amount of work? I am having trouble finding anything that is feasible.

You can take a look at the Penn Foster ACE approved courses -
Business Computer Systems and Applications
Advanced Business Applications
Microcomputer and its Applications
Systems Design

Everything else that I've seen around when I've looked has been running $750+ cost-wise.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

Keep in mind that the first 2 listed are only worth 2 credits each through ACE. I just sent a ticket with TESC to see if these would qualify as CIS electives because TESC has been VERY selective recently.

Can you give me a link to where I can find out about those classes?

Anyone know of anything else?

Might be worth asking if TESC takes the ICCP exams ($285 per exam, 3 credits). Take a look at these threads for other potential IT related classes.

I just heard back from TESC, none of those classes would satisfy the CIS elective requirements.

Meaning none of the four? Too bad. I wish I could find something cheap and easy, I just need one more class...

PFC's Systems Design would fulfill part of the TESC Systems Analysis and Design requirement but not the CIS elective requirements. I'm in the same boat, I need 1 CIS elective class and didn't really want to have to take it through TESC.

Where can I find that...? I can't for the life of me find my way aroudnt he penn foster website...
