From what I understand the only one of the big 3 that currently accepts the gre subject tests raw is COSC and they max out at 18 credits. SUNY Empire State will give up to 36 credits if ones score is high enough. What do all of you think about getting the credit through Empire State and then transferring it to one of the big 3?

Which GRE exam(s) are you interested in taking?
COSC actually gives 24 credits (15 LL and 9 UL) for the math and science-related GRE exams by scoring 40th percentile.
I have wondered if it is possible to take 2 Science/Math-related GREs to complete a BS in Liberal Studies concentration at COSC. (I have not asked them, though. Also, note that the Biochemistry GRE has not been evaluated for credit, yet.)
I do not know anything about Empire State and GRE credit beyond the information given in this link:

I asked Thomas Edison and Excelsior after I applied and they told me they would not accept GRE credit at all, even if it's transferred from another school. I asked my advisor at COSC and he told me that they would not accept GRE credit transferred from another school. I could only get the 18 or 24 max directly from COSC.

Thanks for that info. I guess its either not possible or you would really have to work to get it done (ie using another college in between empire state and one of the big 3).

My GRE exam was canceled in April and the next month to take it is in October (? not sure), so I gave up and just chose TESC. Otherwise, I would have enrolled in COSC, but I'm glad I didn't. I would have ended up spending $1,000 or more taking ECEs or independent study courses just for 12 of the required 15 upper level credits in the major. COSC only grants 3 UL for the Psychology GRE. I think there are barely enough DSSTs for the rest of the UL credits at COSC.
