CLEP English Composition tomorrow

No, the time begins once you start viewing your essay prompt. You have total control over how you use your time -- organization, outline, draft, etc. I posted my comment in your new thread regarding the confidentiality agreement.

I completed the College Composition exam yesterday (3/11/15), and it wasn't as bad as I expected, although. I did run short on time during the first phase: 50 questions in 50 minutes. I wildly guessed on about the last 8-10 questions. In preparation for this section, I only studied the IC Flashcards. The only concern I had in this section was the reference styles, but surprisingly, there were only two or three reference related questions on the exam. Yay for me!

The two essays were not that bad and exactly what I had expected. Prior to the exam I practiced the 3 paragraph and 5 paragraph essay formats by writing two 3p essays then about five synthesis 5p essays. Several days later I went back and reviewed/critiqued them based on the grading matrix provided in the CLEP 2015 Edition. Additionally, I ran each of them through the online Grammar and Writing Style online checker (Grammar Checker and Writing Style) that provides feedback for refining the essay. For each essay I had about 1-2 minutes remaining. I did not use that time to refine my writing as I was mentally exhausted by then and was just happy to end it. My recommendation for the essays: use the scratch paper to scribble out an outline (intro, 1,2,3 and conclusion), with the 1/2/3 body being the most important as they each discuss one single point, then provide support. The intro and summary are simply restatements of the whole essay. I took a full 10 minutes to read the instructions and article/statement and jot out my outline. Then I used the remaining time (20/30, respectively) to write out the essay. It's much easier when structured this way.

At the end of the day I feel pretty good about the exam. I'll post my score in 2-4 weeks.

Well, English is essential for life. If you write error-free English then you can use any Grammar checker tool.
