US History II 1865-present

I PASSED! THANK YOU JESUS!
I got a 53 on it. my test focused a lot on the 1960s, and did not have even one question from the last 20 or so years. I felt unprepared, and only passed it by Gods grace.

Hi Operalady!

That's great; I'm glad she likes them, too.

I see that they have both passed American Government already. Did they use the REA book? There is a new one that hasn't been published/available yet. I want to start studying for this in a couple of weeks. Do you have any suggestions for an alternate book? I really like having the practice tests in the REA books.

Thanks for your help.

NAP

Update: As of April 2009, the REA book for American Government became available.

We knew nothing of IC at the time the kids took American Government. My main text was the Cliffs American Government and Politics. I like the online version (free) and we used the glossary as flash cards, memorizing as much as possible. I preferred the AP version of the book (library copy), simply because it has study questions. I lurked at all the libraries and found Kaplan and REA study guides, some from AP versions and some CLEP versions. The focus of our studies, as this was our first CLEP, was to learn how to deal with the multiple choice, multiple right and negative questions so I tried to get as many practice questions as I could. I wish I had a better feel for whether the REA text was the best, which they tend to be, but my memory fails. Lots of life events and lots of study materials make my memory fuzzy.

Blessings on your efforts.

She passed!! *is elated*

The History Channel's Presidents DVD set, historyteacher.net, REA, IC and Peterson's online tests were her favorite materials. The DVD set helped so much for the timeline.

Awesome! I'm so happy for her and she got a great score! You must be so proud of your kids racking up all of these college credits before they even get out of high school! I think that is so neat!
