If she takes the various history CLEPs, wouldn't this be considered duplicate credit?

TESC doesn't consider it a duplicate, at any rate. At least, not as of a year ago. I took every history CLEP and DSST there is and still was able to use SS&H.

I'm gonna give this thread a quick bump in hopes to get some quick advice. I'm getting toward the end of my degree with TESC and here's what I need left that can be tested out of. I'm trying to find the quickest route so please throw out any suggestions you have. I need to get them done quick so i can meet the April 1 deadline for the June graduation date. After this it's on to law school (hopefully). Anyway here is what I have left to take:

B. Humanities 12 hours total (3 Left Needed for degree)
HLS-355: Critical Thinking for Homeland Security (3 hours)---CURRENTLY ENROLLED TESC
Humanities Electives (6 Hours completed through A&IL CLEP) (9) (3 needed)

In need of 3 hours in Humanities. Testing out preferred. Suggestions requested.


C. Social Sciences 12 hours total
SOC-322: Cultural Diversity in the U.S. ECE TESTING OUT (3 hours)
Social Science Electives (6 Hours completed through SS&H CLEP) (3 Hours given from Administration of Justice course)

The ECE Cultural Diversity test will go here




D. Natural Science and Mathematics 12 hours (6 left needed for degree)
Mathematics (3 hours Completed through LSU College Algebra)
Mathematics or Natural Science (9) (6 needed for degree)
BIOL1001 General Biology (3.00) BIO-111

I need 6 hours here. Possibly the Natural Sciences CLEP but I would prefer an easier option if possible. Any suggestions?


E. General Education Electives 18 hours (Not taken yet....all 18 hours needed)

This is the end right here. I need to fill this with the easiest and quickest CLEP's if possible. Any suggestions?

I am needing these to be done by March so I'm working on a limited timeline. This is testing out of 30 hours from now until the end of February. TESC's deadline is 4/1 for all documents for the June graduation. I know it's doable but I need suggestions if possible. Most of you have been through this process before so I do not want to reinvent the wheel so to speak.

Flip to the end of the long ALEKS thread- you can sign up and work self paced through as much math as you can cram from now till then. A fraction of the cost, you could get 15 credits for about $60 and really, going very fast. They would fill your math section and then overflow into your gen ed electives. (granted, it's not easy credit, but certainly at least 1 class completed per month in ALEKS is doable)
Humanities I won't comment on, I hate humanities. I took A&I then American Literature and then Technical Writing. I found technical writing MUCH easier than American Lit. Any chance you can learn Spanish? That's a HUGE humanities credit- which would overflow into gen eds. 6-12 credits in one swoop.

Thanks Jennifer! My concern is time right now. You know how TESC is with their deadlines and everything has to be sumitted and reviewed before April 1. That honestly means it needs to be there March 1 for me to make sure I get in on the June graduation. I just received an updated eval from TESC and everything I posted above is still a go. I posted in this thread because of the overlapping courses and I think that if I do it right 30 hours is doable. The ECE Cultural Diversity covers the remaining Social Science, so I need 6 natural Sciences/Mathematics, and the 18 hours General Ed.

I don't think I could learn Spanish that fast so that might be a problem. I'm good at math but I think I could learn faster with courses other than the Aleks course although that price is hard to beat.

So far I've taken these CLEP's so they are out:
Analyzing and Interpreting Literature
English Composition W/Essay
Social Sciences and History

This is the end of the road (undergrad level) for me and I'm moving on. I just don't want to reinvent the wheel here. I see people in this thread discussing the business courses as possibly being the easiest of the bunch. I think this is the list they are referring to:

DSST Intro to Business (business)
CLEP Principles of Marketing
DSST Principles of Supervision
CLEP Principles of Management
DSST Human Resource Mgmt (or ECE UL) (business)
DSST Organizational Behavior (or ECE UL) (business)


I would prefer another subject to tackle but if this one is a bit easier....hmmm. I also need to make sure none of these courses (whichever ones I end up taking) don't duplicate through TESC.

So far I'm pretty sure my first two will be CLEP Intro Sociology and CLEP Intro Psychology. I can get these done in a single day of testing. From here is where I just don't have a clue. hilarious

PSY-211 DSST Lifespan Developmental Psychology = 3cr Soc Sci or Gen Ed
PSY-270 TECEP Psychology for Women = 3cr Soc Sci or Gen Ed
COS-101 DSST Intro to Computing = 3cr Natural Science or Gen Ed

Not sure where you are on in your math requirements but TESC will post ALEKS beg algebra (MAT-102), intermediate algebra (MAT-115), college algebra (MAT-121) under Natural Science and then trickle down to Gen Ed. You could knock out all three within 3 days. And thats only to give time for ACE to approve. Believe me these three are quick and fast. Use mathway.com to check each problem before entering and its easy 9 credits. For $20 ALEKS + $40 ACE fee its a too good to be true deal. Please go after it, you will not be sorry. Edit to Add: I just noticed you already have college algebra..you can then just do the first two. Very Easy. Just a thought. :-)

Wow that looks pretty good. TESC put my Algebra as MAT-121 so I wonder if I could still get the other two courses. I am decent at math but I honestly hate it. However, if it means a quick 6 credits then so be it. The courses you posted on top I will consider as well. If I combine Aleks (6 hours) with CLEP Sociology, CLEP Psychology, and those 12 hours up top I end up with 24 hours total. So an educated guess on how long it would take me to finish up the two Maths? Take into account the College Algebra I took was in 2006, I studied my butt off, and I got an A in the course. hilarious

Yep! If you already have MATH121 Algebra, go back and pick up the College Math CLEP for 6 and the Intermediate Algebra through ALEKS for 3 more credits ($20) *this would be assuming you wouldn't have to go re-learn a bunch of stuff, but if you already passed 121, I think you might have found a treasure picking up the lower maths. Double check the current alpha-numeric in the back of the college catalog to be sure you won't duplicate anything.

Oh- the reason I didn't suggest ALEKS Beg and Inter is because college math gives you 6 credits, and 3 of those will duplicate beginning algebra. You come out +3 doing the college math CLEP + intermediate.
