major class from a different department at TESC?
#1
I'm wondering if TESC is at all flexible in letting a class from a different department count toward your major. Specifically in my case, could something like TESC's Constitutional Issues (an upper level political science class) count toward a history major? It looks like there is a good bit of history about the constitution included in the class. How would one go about finding out if they would allow this? Thanks.

I have taken the course, probably one of my favorites while at TESC. There is a huge part of history in it as it goes over all the aspects of the Constitution and the Amendments and what factors played in to them. It might not have enough history to apply though because a large portion of the class is interpreting the different laws and most of the work you complete, other than the reading, focuses on that.

Your best bet is to submit the course description to an advisor. In general, TESC does not accept political science courses as history credits. There are a lot of subjects that cover a bit of history. Almost all of the criminal justice and psychology courses I took covered the history of the fields; CJ covers a lot of constitutional law too along with historical cases. Since TESC does not accept American Government as a history course, I think your chances are slim.

Taking Con Issues right now for my Criminal Justice degree (it's a required class for that), and I seriously doubt it would qualify as a history class. As a side note, this class has 98.7% convinced me that I should NOT be a lawyer, I absolutely hate it.

They have taken a bunch of Sociology/Social Science classes toward my major, as long as they were on "abnormalities" apparently, but I think that's also partially because they don't even have enough Administration of Justice courses to fill a degree. That is definitely not the case with their history courses, so I have a feeling they would be less lenient with that degree anyway.
