I will talk to my son about trying the College Algebra first, then the PreCalc with ALEKS since he can use both (and he's not enrolled yet). I love that he could potentially spend a couple of months and get both courses out of the way!! It's so much cheaper than $110 per CLEP! Maybe he'll do Intermediate Alg. too just for fun....

Thanks to this thread, I've completed Intermediate Algebra and College Algebra in the past week.(I'm a homeschool mom, and my son took college algebra last semester. I learned right along with him without realizing it.) I'd like to maximize my one month subscription and get all of the credits that I can get through ALEKS. I wanted to verify two things based on the fact that I am seeking a psychology degree:
1) I only need one "College-Level Math Course" for my degree, but I've seen other's say that I can use math credits for the Natural Sciences requirement. Am I understanding this correctly?
2) I need a statistics course for the psychology major. Will TESC accept the ALEKS statistics course for this requirement?

1. You only need one college math course, but you can use more to fulfill other areas of gen ed.
2. Yes, ALEKS statistics will fulfill the requirement.

While ALEKS Stats will fulfill your TESC requirement, based upon all the comments in other posts, it is probably doubtful that you could actually assess to 70% with the time remaining. Go ahead and see what happens. Close your ALEKS account. Then learn the material through this really easy to follow self paced free course: Statistical Reasoning | Open Learning Initiative Then after you have finished this course you have options for earning the credit: ALEKS assessment, DSST cbe, ECE graded exam, and particularly for psychology majors this Ohio U graded self-paced distance course: Course: PSY 2110 Title: Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences found by this link: OHIO eCampus Your selection of how you earn the credits will depend upon whether you are just "ticket punching" for any degree or whether you are interested in post graduate work in the field of psychology.

My intention in to get a Masters in Family Counseling at Liberty University. Does anyone know if they wouldn't look favorably on having my statistics course come from ALEKS?

I don't think they would care, presuming you are receiving your bachelors from someplace else. They are just looking for the degree requirement, not individual courses.

I don't see a master's in family counseling program, so I can't tell if you're looking at a concentration in professional counseling, pastoral counseling, or marriage and family therapy. If statistics is not a prerequisite for the program, then they most likely won't care. These aren't highly-quantitative fields anyway. Liberty University is a partner with Straighterline, so they are already open to alternative sources of credit.

Sorry, I'm looking at Marriage and Family Therapy as seen here: MA in Marriage and Family Therapy | Liberty University Online
There is a statistics prerequisite: 3 credit hours in Statistics (can be MATH 201)
Would this mean that I need a course other than the ALEKS course?

It would be best to ask Liberty if they'll accept an ACE-approved course.
