Credit for ALEKS Corp (McGraw Hill) Online courses in College Algebra & Statistics

Forgot to post this. Spoke with advisement over at TESC last week. So they said that if you have stats any one of them the others are a waste because stats is stats. Trig is a waste because that would fall in college math category and would already be filled by my college algebra or something like that. So what im getting at is dont do what i did and take all of them if you dont need them because its pointless.
I think the only time all these maths i took would help would be if i was a math major.

Wait a minute, they won't even give you elective credit?

Also, a thought about ALEKS college math courses: not enough is said about this here, but for those who need to take college courses from a B&M or online school, ALEKS makes a great brush-up for going in. As much as there's tons of work in those courses, getting the material down in advance could make one more efficient when pressed for time.

Hi all!
Just thought I'd post my Aleks experience thus far. I started Beginning Algebra on Monday, 11/9 and finished it yesterday. I found Aleks to be very user friendly but, I have to say that the subject matter was not something that I found the least bit fun or interesting. :p I see Algebra, Precalc, etc., as something I have to do to finish a business degree but not something that I'd ever go near otherwise.

A big shout out to Gary - I love you, man!! - for sharing the math websites that were helpful to him during his trevails in this subject. I found them equally helpful. I am surprised to admit that I have actually learned some math! Now, maybe I can help my 4th grader with his homework without having to google everything. BTW, how did our parents ever get through homework with us without the benefit of google?

Well, I am on to Intermediate Algebra or whatever it is that they call the next one. Hopefully, it won't be too painful.

Thanks to everyone for there help and encouragement. Also, to any mathphobes out there (no, Categ, I wasn't looking specifically at you ), believe me if I can do this, anyone can.

Dont know about the elective credit. The guy was more or less saying that was all i was getting. He did the same for my FEMAS. He went on to this guilt trip speech stating that when we get this close to the degree we are smart, by we meaning students. Then went on to say we should try to test out through cleps if need be or dantes but not femas because its free. SWEAR this is the crap he fed me.

I dont know i tried to fight this a million different ways. And still cant get them to budge. Someone else posted about free electives but if i email them again im trying to figure out how to phrase it. Please and thank you doesnt work with these people.
More or less for anything else they are saying that it duplicates which is fine but the whole free electives then would make sense. NO?

I spoke with advising regarding the fema credits and it actually depends on how much free elective space you have available. Example on my AAS I have 6 free elective spaces (18 cr). All 18 fema courses are applied to this section. For the BASS I was only able to use 9 fema courses, because the other spaces were filled by the business courses taken for the AAS degree.

If this was not the case for you, I would set up an actual advising appointment with an advisor who specializes in your degree. This is what I did. IMHO, the folks who are available anytime you call are good for general questions only.

I wanted to ask you what website you used for your stats classes? I'm already on mathway.com (thanks!)

I was under the impression the addition math courses would apply towards gen ed and/or natural science credits.

If there is a cap, ok, but how come no one here has ever stumbled upon that rule? If there isn't a cap, then they are overflowing your math into gen eds which is overflowing into your free electives...and possibly those are full like bricabrack found. BUT, if they are not full- then there needs to be a darn good reason why ACE evaluated Math credit is not being included in your degree.

I did all my math on Aleks as for the FEMAs i did somewhere around 35 classes and they only took 22 i believe leaving me with 4 free elective courses to be done.
