I'd like some input in on which courses to take at Study.com versus which courses I should take at UMPI. In short are there any courses I should try to avoid taking at Study.com or conversely at UMPI?
I plan to major in Business Admin with a Supply Chain Concentration.
Courses I plan to take at UMPI:
UMPI BUS 220: Managerial Accounting / Study.com Accounting 301: Applied Managerial Accounting
UMPI BUS 244: Management Information Systems / Study.com Business 303: Management Information Systems
UMPI BUS 240: Change Management / Study.com Business 304: Leading Organizational Change
UMPI BUS 353: Legal & Ethical Environment of Business / Study.com Business 310: Advanced Business Ethics
UMPI BUS 415: Operations Management / Study.com Business 312: Advanced Operations Management
Courses I plan to take at UMPI (11 total):
POS 101 - American Government
BUS 200: Intermediate Business Computing
BUS 218: Materials and Inventory Management
BUS 231: Total Quality Management
BUS 323: Fundamentals of Supply Chain and Logistics (Possible Business 315 @ Study.com but I don't think it transfers correctly)
BUS 325: Financial Management
BUS 440: Business Analytics
BUS 469: Strategic Professional Communication
BUS 363: Sourcing Analysis
BUS 412: Supplier Relationship Management
BUS 452: Channel Management
You probably already know this, but you have to take 10 courses at UMPI to meet the residency requirements. Are there other UMPI classes you plan to take that you didn't list? Also, your SDC list is three months of classes, since you can't take more than 5 per month, which means you'd likely be taking classes at UMPI and SDC simultaneously, at least briefly, and possibly paying for a full month for only one class if you do 5 classes in each of the first two months.
If I were you, I'd just take the SDC classes with a lot of overlap. I didn't major in business, so although I took 20 classes through SDC, I took none of the ones on your list.
But, for instance, you might take BUS 412 and find that by doing so you also completed 10% of BUS 469 and 50% of BUS 452, so go ahead and take BUS 452 at SDC since it's half finished anyway. I'd start with the LL business classes and see which UL classes were most filled out, and then do those. Save the rest for UMPI unless, of course, you have other plans to fulfill your residency requirements.
Sorry this doesn't really answer your question, but the number of classes on the lists stood out to me more than the classes themselves, which I admittedly know nothing about.
Hey, have you taken 323? I'm looking for an easier upper level elective. Prefer somthing with an exam. Any suggestions?
Yes I did take BUS 323 but I took the BUS 315 option at SDC. It was a good class, had 2 writing assignements if I remember correctly that were relatively easy. The exam was pretty tough but I got a B in the class.
