True. I just shared details of my interactions with Jain.

I believe there are two parts to this skepticism. One is that online degrees are likely to be fraudulent. Secondly, Jain University mentioned something about being unable to fathom how a 4-year degree was completed in 10 months. I told them they are welcome to call up TESU and inquire how this works. Seems online degrees might be accepted in India if they are of almost the same duration as an offline degree. So, if I took, say 3.5 years to complete a 4-year degree, perhaps, they might be open to considering it. But these CBE and Tempo-based degrees are not accepted.

With regard to time and CBE, I think that's why the Anabin in Germany had (and still has sort of a slight) problem with WGU degrees.

In summary, applying for Master’s/MBA in Indian Universities is ruled out for members of this community, who are mostly only online and CBE degree holders. I hope India will eventually get over this fixation with whatever they believe is the ‘ideal’ mode of college education, and embrace successful degree pathways that are operational worldwide.

This is generally true for larger/public universities as they have to follow more regulations and rules for accreditation. I think there are a few smaller private universities that have been given different rules, statuses, or whatever it may be that allows them to take in other students, even from online education providers. I would really ask any private degree provider to verify and also speak with the governments in that state/local to verify they indeed have the authorization to grant these type of degrees.

An example that I may have private messaged you before was Don Bosco University (Global), one of our members on the sister board has an MBA from this school, I recall he completed it in 2016, so that was just 5 years ago. I don't think much has changed in regards to acceptance of international students with an online education for the private degree granting sector. If anyone international is looking, just make sure to verify with your country if they are acceptable and verify you can enroll in that university.

Did Don Bosco University accept this forum member, even though they had an online Bachelor’s degree from TESU etc? That is very encouraging. Because unlike the US, in India, the UGC & the AIU are centralized bodies, which govern all universities across all states. Jain is a private university too, but somehow, they are unwilling to budge from the AIU’s stipulations. Would you please be able to post more information as to how this forum member managed to convince Don Bosco University to accept their online degree? That would be helpful for me too when answering such questions from Indian universities. Obviously, I am clear that public universities in India would not even bother looking at my transcript. But even private universities are strictly regulated by UGC & AIU. To the best of my knowledge, as far as admissions are concerned, both private and public universities follow the same rules.

I do believe the "regulations" and "rules" are the same for the most part, regardless of them being public or private. It seems that some have "weird loopholes and workarounds", I recall also conversing with you about IGNOU as they are "The People's University" with many international students. Anyways, I copied the member's signature...

Ph.D. in Criminal Justice (2021) - Liberty University
M.S. in Criminal Justice (2018) - Lamar University
MBA in Management (2016) - Don Bosco University (India)
B.S. in Criminal Justice (2014) - Ashworth College
AAS in Security Management (2012) - Ashworth College

Note: The interesting part is, Chris did his undergrad at Ashworth College, which is Nationally Accredited and entirely online. I would have thought it needed to be Regionally Accredited, so that is why in many many of my posts - for international students, I mention to people to verify if NA/RA will work before taking the courses towards that degree.

Does anyone know why India is so anti-online education? Is it due to issues in India or other nations? Seems odd especially since the pandemic pushed many schools around the world into remote learning and online learning. That isn't ending everywhere anytime soon unfortunately.

India isn't anti-online, they're just more traditional. India and Pakistan are plagued by diploma mill operations, they are the largest nations with a history, and they're trying to clean that up. Government agencies are trying to limit the use of online degrees in a sense but they really are trying to hold the fort and not allow any diploma mills from entering. They are not the only countries affected, it gets worse with countries stricken with poverty, people pay to get a diploma just to get an above average job... others use these and try for immigration to more developed countries...

Oh wow! This is amazing. Is there a way you can connect me with this forum member? I am interested to know how they managed to get into DBU, what questions were asked, how they managed to convince DBU about the online degree, etc. If possible, please ask this member to PM me.

There was no convincing necessary. Don Bosco didn't care at the time, and didn't care when I spoke to them in 2019 and 2020.
