Last bit of advice before I commit
#1
Ok so I applied to all 3 and seemed to get the most credit from Excelsior but not sure if that is my best bet.

Excelsior - 72 credits thinking of BPS in IT
COSC- 62 Credits thinking of ??
TESC - 58 credits but I think I have up to 10 more outstanding and thinking of BSAST in Technical Studies

My first choice was COSC but I'm not so sure now and would love input from anyone. Below is from Excelsior --

Know that all COSC degrees are technically "General Studies" they have concentrations instead of majors....this is not an issue to me, but some folks really have a problem with it.

With that said Charter Oak is the only one that accepts FEMA for free and that can go a long way towards completion (up to 30 credits). You will need 30 upper level courses, not sure where those would come from.

What is the end goal?
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Thanks for the response. I am just looking to have a degree in anything, only for the personal accomplishment. I have 20 of the FEMA courses but ended up not needing them as I had plenty of electives already.

Do you have a pilots license or A&P License? there are a couple schools that award 30 upper level hours for those certifications.

If you are interested in an "anything" degree, you might want Excelsior to reevaluate you for a BS Liberal Studies. It is their most flexible degree. I am sure it is similar at TESC, but I have never seen an evaluation for the Learner Designed Area of Study at TESC. I have seen the liberal studies at Excelsior and was given most of my military credits.

Thanks, actually I was just looking at the bachelor of science in business -management information systems concentration from excelsior and it seems like it may be a better fit for me as the BPS one has classes I cant find anywhere else or test out of like energy utilization, engineering economics, and technology & society. The BS in Science has more business courses but at least I can test out of those.

If you are looking for a degree that has many testing out alternatives, it is hard to beat TESC's BS Business Administration. Even if Excelsior gave you more initial credits, TESC tends to be more flexible on alternative sources of credit. At TESC you can even take the capstone course through Penn Foster. Excelsior rubbed me the wrong way with their Freshman Composition requirements. I tried to take an upper level course through BYU and was shot down because it wasn't English Comp II. Overall, they seemed a little too controlling for my taste. There are others here who had excellent experiences with Excelsior. Good luck with your decision. It is a difficult one to make.

One a personal note, I have been enrolled in several programs at Exelsior and TESC. In the end, I chose the BSBA-CIS at TESC with the hope that my degree will be viewed as a CIS degree when applying for jobs. With as many computer credits as you have, it might be worth looking at this approach. I guess it really depends on what you want to do with the degree. I hope to leave the trades and do computer related work one day, so I opted for something with CIS in the title.
