Passed Astronomy
#1
I just wanted to let everyone know that I passed the DSST Astronomy test over this past weekend. I passed by the skin of my teeth, but passing is passing and I'll take it! My score was a 49 and I needed a 48 to pass. Yes, I passed it by one point. The IC flashcards were enough to pass the test for this subject. Also, the free-clep-prep.com practice tests were an awesome tool for this subject. They really made me extra prepared for this test and I think that's what put my brain over the top so I could pass this dat blasted thing!

I'm a UOP (University Of Phoenix) student and I have been trying to satisfy 15 elective credits for about a year now. I'm in the Columbia, SC area. If there are any UOP students out there in my area and you are looking for a place nearby to take the CLEP or the DANTES or DSST's, the Augusta, GA UOP Campus as well as the Charlotte, NC UOP Campus now administers both of these tests. However, the Augusta Campus does not adminster the test on Saturday. They are open on Saturday, but they do not have the personnel available to administer the tests on the weekend. The Charlotte Campus just recently started administering the DSST or DANTES and they just recently started making testing available on Saturday mornings. Another good thing; if you are a UOP student and go to a UOP Campus, they do not charge you a testing fee if you are a UOP student. There is a UOP Campus in the Columbia, SC area, but they do not offer the CLEP or the DSST or DANTES. I could have very easily paid the administrative fee or testing fee to other educational institutions in the Columbia, SC area, but I would rather spend that money on gas and go to a UOP Campus, not only because they will waive the testing fee, but also if I had any questions about my transcript or other grades or anything re: my education at that school, then a UOP Campus would be able to answer those questions. That's just a heads up for other UOP people in case you didn't know and / or were in the same boat as I am! Also, if you are pressed for time and needing those credits to be on your transcript by a certain date, if you call Prometric, (the DSST or DANTES people) after you pass a test or tests, you call them the next business day and for $25.00 they will UPS next day air the results to whatever address you give them to send those test results to and they will do that for you. They pull those reports though only twice a week; Tuesday and Thursday. If you call them before the reports are run they will pull your scores and as I said for $25.00 they will send it to whereever you need them to send it to! Again, good info if you are pressed for time. The Astronomy test should be on my transcript by the end of this week or early next week at the latest! In two weeks when I pass my Substance Abuse test (See, trying to remain positive!) I will do this procedure again to ensure those credits will be on my transcript by April 26th. That's my deadline! Thanks MA2, Chebasz and to anyone else who gave me some good advice and help with Astronomy! Most appreciated!

I have 3 credits to go! On to Substance Abuse! I've already made an
appointment for April 9th to take this last test. Does anyone have anything to share re: Substance Abuse? Has anyone taken it just recently? Is there any info that crosses over from the Here's To Your Health to the Substance Abuse? I failed the Substance Abuse test back in September by 5 points. This was before I knew about IC. I'm hoping I can pull some info from the back of my brain to pass this one and then I will have a Bachelor's Degree! Anyone's input is most appreciated! Thanks to everyone!

GREAT JOB!!! hilarious

It's been a while since I took Substance Abuse, but I do remember that you need to know any licit drugs listed in the IC cards, for example the opioid antagonists that they mention. Also, I remember that quite a few statistics listed in IC were actually on the test.

I can't remember more, but I did really enjoy studying for this. Go to A&E and watch an episode of Intervention or two if you find the topic boring. This show will make the subject matter come alive.

IC + Specific forum feedback will be enough to pass, but make sure that you keep in mind that the test has been refreshed. So.. the older feedback is still good, but you may want to look at the newer feedback first.
