I'm not sure actually. I was just replying to dfrecore on the GEC that i was missing. I did several Straighterline courses in 2017, one including Intro to World Religions.

I am taking Sophia's Intro. to Sociology now and completed all the quizzes, but the my touchstone was submitted on Oct. 3 and not yet graded.

What's with the new alias? Something happen to the old varjosh account? Anyways, no, you don't need anything more than the StraighterLine course as it "hits" the spot already. I would focus on remaining items to transfer over and then the final UMPI courses that they offer you each term.

Update:

I applied to TESU to see an evaluation and I have 13 RA credits transferred, and for

BSBA in Accounting, I would need 3 UL courses to fulfill the requirements along with the Cornerstone/Capstone

&

BSBA in General Management I only need the Cornerstone/Capstone courses

My question is, would you guys think it would a good decision to complete one of the TESU degrees before beginning at UMPI on Jan. 18?

P.S. I found my original username password

I would do either/or. I wouldn't do both. UMPI will cost less but be slightly more work than the BSBA General Management if all you have left is the cornerstone/capstone. I think that the accounting degree would probably be roughly the same amount of work either way.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

What benefit do you think you would receive from having two bachelor’s degrees from different schools?

I wouldn’t do it UNLESS the TESU degree wouldn’t cost you anything. If you would have to pay tuition and particularly if you have to pay the residency fee waiver, I absolutely would not get the TESU degree. Complete an accounting concentration or a BA in accounting or something “extra” with UMPI. It would almost certainly be cheaper.

And I don’t see the benefit of having a TESU degree on top of a UMPI degree. Both are kind of 2nd tier public universities. If you are still in CA, neither of them are local or are going to have particular name recognition.  TESU probably has a bit bigger and more geographically diverse alumni base, but is being part of that worth thousands of dollars?  To me, it wouldn’t be.

The other thing that comes to mind: since TESU will not grant a 3rd bachelor’s degree, if you got TESU and UMPI now, you would be shutting that door in the future. Would you have a future interest into moving into the science side of cannabis?  If so, a TESU degree might be a good future option. Why close that door now?
Master of Accountancy (taxation concentration), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in progress.
Master of Business Administration (financial planning specialization), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in progress.

BA, UMPI.  Accounting major; Business Administration major/Management & Leadership concentration.  Awarded Dec. 2021.

In-person/B&M: BA (history, archaeology)
In-person/B&M: MA (American history)

Sophia: 15 courses (42hrs)

Thanks for the reply freeloader.

I am on the science side of cannabis at the moment and there just isn't money there. We've had people from all weeks, many with degrees, graduates, bachelors, and associates, who started at near the California minimum wage only to either move on to other industries or just slowly gain small raises over time ($11/hr + $1-$3/hr/year).

I have 12 weeks minus a day until the next UMPI session and because I will likely be starting over in another industry. Would having 2 degrees in separate business-related fields widen my options and make my resume more marketable?

With the BSBA in Accounting
  • 1 College Accelerator membership ($199) + 1 extra proctored exam ($70) totaling $269 more than General Management
  • The UMPI credits earned would put me over 150 credits towards the CPA credit requirements
  • Financial aid will cover the Cornerstone and Capstone courses
(If any of this sounds like total nonsense and a waste of time, please let me know. I am just shooting ideas and considering the possibilities.)

Another option would be to finish my BSBA at TESU by January and start the next MAOL session at UMPI in March if accepted.
I have 9 weeks to submit my UMPI application, so I am considering options and sharing ideas.

varJosh, you said that you have 13 RA credits to transfer to TESU. I am assuming that those 13 were not earned at TESU, looked through your old posts and didn’t see any references to taking courses there. If that is the case and you plan to only do the 2 required courses, you know you will have to pay the residency fee waiver—currently $3,192, right?  This is on top of your tuition for the 2 courses and required fees.

Someone more knowledgeable can correct me on this, but my understanding is that student aid does not cover that $3,192.

So, is that piece of paper worth the money?  Personally, I wouldn’t think so. If you think it is worth it or if somebody is going to pay that for you, why not?

Nope, those are CC credits.

I thought as long as there are 16 RA credits applied to the degree, I'd be in the clear. Well, that blows that option out of the window. I guess I'm waiting for Jan. 18.

And, yes, I would pay a college for a diploma, considering all the hours studying, and papers written, and tests taken to earn that piece of paper. freeloader, this means a lot to me. This isn't a willy nilly journey for me. I have a lot of people riding on me learning and getting a decent paying job with what I learned.
