No map suggestions, but here's a resource for others who are looking for stuff. I am planning to take this exam in about three weeks and this was the book that was recommended to me as "all I would need to know." Of course, I plan to do IC extensively also, but thought I'd pass along the book title as a supplement to y'all. I can't recommend it from personal experience yet, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

A History of the Modern Middle East, Third Edition, by William L. Cleveland.

I bought it used from Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more for about $20, I think.
