2. I do have some credits from waaay back when I did attend school. The school has since closed but a Rep from EC told me that I should be able to get those credits from the state where the school was opened? Can anyone please share some advice on how to go about this please?
4. I do want to take as many CLEP test as possible to try to get this done. I thought about signing up for the Instantcert and to start studying. I'm just a bit confused on what to start with. Math is not in my genes so I'm wondering how to get that done and out of the way.
Any and all advice is welcome and much appreciated! TIA!

Re :#4.> In regards to exams, check out the exam guide (" Student Guide to Credit by Exam at Excelsior") that can be downloaded from the Exclesior site, it will list the exams ( Cleps, DSST, ECE's , etc) and how they are counted at Excelsior. This will be a very helpful guide as you plan out your degree.

In Oct 06 I was a 50ish mother just starting this process it took me a while to find this site, but I think it has made all the difference. I have finished my AA and hope to finish my BA soon plus I have already started on my second career. You can do this and IC is just the place to help.
By the way some of my credits were 35 years old(and D's) and TESC took them anyway. Don't be afraid or embarrassed to ask questions. We have all started out with a lot to learn about the process everyone here will help if they can.

Welcome! I think you will like the BSLS as it is a very flexible program and there are many test options. I felt very lucky to find a program where I could study my passions to earn my bachelor's.

Join
Aleks and get your math requirements out of the way. Aleks has 9 courses that ACE has reviewed and recommended college credits for and Excelsior accepts them up to the maximum credits allowed depending on the degree type. The cost is only $20/month. After you finish each course, send it to
American Council on Education (ACE) to apply on ACE transcript. After you have completed ALL the courses you needed for your ACE transcript, then order a transcript to be sent to Excelsior. The cost for the first ACE transcript is only $40.
Also, if you know you still have room for free electives credit, then join
NFA online
Enroll in
Community Safety Educators (Q118)
Fire Service Supervision (Q318)
Hydraulic Calculations for Water-Based Fire Protection Systems Plan Review (Q137)
After you complete those three courses, send them to ACE for college credit. The beautiful thing is that they are all FREE!!!
If you want to immediately begin, the courses/organizations listed above allow you to start right after you join.
Good luck!

Hi!
I finished the Info Lit course at EC last week. I looked around for this "Student Experience" course, but could not find it. (I have only taken this one course with them and have not sent in my application or enrolled yet.) I will write and ask them about this non-credit course, if I need to, but could you tell me where it is on their website?
I would like to get it done sooner rather than later, if possible. Thanks.

I found it! Many thanks to TMW2010!!
"Student Experience" (non-credit required course) is listed in the box called "Student Services" on the right-hand column of the MyEC page.
Nevermind: It is not letting me have access. This may be because I have not enrolled, yet. I'll update, if I get more info.

I think that's probably the case, NAP. Or at least it didn't become available to me until after I enrolled.

I attended Draughons Jr College in Memphis, TN.
School closed in Memphis but is located in other areas within the state with a new name. (Daymar Institute).
I did get in touch with the corporate office who directed me to the state (Dept of Ed). They said to give it a couple weeks for my transcripts.
The student guide is very helpful. I printed out the blank degree plan and I've been working on it along with studying.
Thanks for the great info!

I do want to go ahead and get the math out of the way.
I definitely have room for the free electives. Any other free courses that can be used for my electives that you know of?
