Has anyone taken this exam?
Is it as hard as I imagine it would be?
It looks like it would be quite difficult, but it is classified as lower level. (Six credits, though!)
I just think this would be a really interesting topic to study!

I took this and got a B last month. It was a hard exam in that it covers a lot of chemistry. It had very little actual anatomy questions and more physiology and chemistry related items. I highly recommend that you use the EC practice exams if you are going to take this. They are a great help in focusing your studies. I have been in the medical field for over 25 years and have taught A&P for 16 years and I still thought I had failed this exam. Imagine my surprise when a B popped up as my final grade! I will admit that chemistry is not my friend so all the acid - base type questions just frustrated me! I also took it before I found this great site! I think that using the IC flashcards along with the practice exams will give you a really good foundation. You can do the IC flashcards and see the level of the material then decide if you want to register and take it. Just a thought. Good luck!

Wow! Thank you for the fast reply!
That is great information - I guess I was right to be intimidated by this exam.
Still, I actually *like* chemistry (or I should say, I liked it when I had it in school 4,000 years ago) so maybe I've got a chance to pass!
I'll probably give it a shot, and I'll definitely check out the EC practice exams!
Thanks for the information - and congrats on your "B"!

Just to add in something, TESC will gift you credit FOR FREE in any course you teach but don't personally have credit in. (as long as it meets the criteria) I earned 27 credits this way.

Jennifer, Thanks so much for the info on the credit for teaching !!
I've searched the web site and can't seem to find the specifics on this (I'm not registered there yet so I can't call). Can you direct me to the specifics like...how long you have to teach for? where? Can I get any credit for time spent teaching in a nursing school if it was private and not a community college? Thanks for the help

Hey, just wondered if anyone has taken this exam recently? I've searched in every section of this forum and have found very little on this exam. I've purchased the practice exams through Excelsior and am using Barron's E-Z Anatomy & Physiology book to study with. This is my last general ed before I start my nursing exams so any help you can give me would be so appreciated!
I must say that I'm really going to miss InstantCert. I only wish there was a forum like this for my nursing exams

Going back to school at 51 has been challenging, but finding InstantCert was a complete God send. I will forever be grateful to all of you who take the time to post feedback and honestly I don't think I could have done it without you. Thank you!

Aggiemom, there are actually several forums just for Excelsior nursing students. Just search the Yahooforums for Excelsior nursing and you will get a list. Those nursing forums are actually how I found about this forum! Good luck!
